I've got an Iphone 4 from e-waste. It turns on and is activation locked. It is worth the trouble of trying to bypass that or should I just frame it? Complete disassembly and then put those components in a nice order on a frame on the wall.

You likely can not bypass the activation lock. If the plan is to take apart the phone for display, then you should just do that.

No real need to bypass it, if you don't intend on using it or selling it for a tiny sum.

I intended to try some games on it but it's fine just as a museum piece.

atleast due to it's age, there are public tools available that will let you install custom firmware and/or bypass activation lock
