I bought an iPhone 14 Pro and didn't set it up as a new one. I used quick start to transfer data from my old iPhone 11 to the new iPhone.

After a few days of use I didn't notice difference in battery duration from the iPhone 14 Pro to my old iPhone (84% battery life). I deleted some apps that I didn't used before but I noticed that using the iPhone to do what I used to do, the battery duration showed a much smaller improvement from my old iPhone than I expected it to happen.

I use my iPhone to take pictures, read some content on Safari, listen to music on Spotify and watch videos on youtube. I usually do this over WiFi with bluetooth on (to connect to my airpods pro).

My doubts are:

  1. Should I notice a significant change in battery life?
  2. Can the fact that I used quick start instead of setting it up as new impact battery life?
  3. What is the average battery life of your iphone 14 pro and how do you use it?
  4. I noticed that the camera uses a lot more battery than I expected, is this normal?

Yes.

The phone needs time to index and is likely why you are seeing the battery usage you are seeing.

    1. What is the average battery life of your iphone 14 pro and how do you use it?

That doesn’t matter as everyone is going to be different.

    1. I noticed that the camera uses a lot more battery than i expected.

Yes it’s normal, the camera and processing software are more powerful so it’s going to use more battery over the 11.

  1. Battery Life will be better. With my 11 PM I would be nearly dead by end of work day. My 14 PM I’m at or above 60% by end of work day.

  2. Setting up a new iPhone, even from a backup, can cause weird battery usage. The iPhone will index the data. An example would be iOS searching all the photos so when you search for something then all the pictures with that item will show up. This causes processes in your iPhone to run. Depending on how many photos you have can be a couple days. My battery usage was crazy the first few days, but since has been phenomenal.

  3. Answered this as part of 1.

  4. I haven’t really noticed much of a change here for me.

my average screen on time is 10hrs. Youtube, safari, reddit, spotify on background, and LTE 90% of the time. This is what the Battery page says.

And i think it's accurate because i sometimes measure it myself, it loses about 10% per hour of continuous usage.

Thank you all for all answers! I reseted my phone and started as a new one, now I'm going to wait the indexing time.
