In iOS 12 Apple add the ability to disable USB accessory to help prevent the police from getting into your phone. The downside is it takes one hour and if the police are investigating you they would obviously try to get your phone to forensics as quickly as possible.

SOS mode disables Touch ID and Face ID so does it take it a step further and immediately disable the lightning port?

You can also power off your phone, which will require you to enter the passcode in order to decrypt the files stored and allow USB accessories to access the device data

I do hope you're not doing something illegal

It takes less time to push the power button if you are getting pulled over or running away from the cops.

If anyone else sees this. I checked myself using my MacBook air. I locked my phone and immediately presed the lock button 5 times. Plugging the USB C to Lightning cable in brings up a lock screen message that says "Unlock iPhone to use USB accessory". I also have Erase after 10 failed password attempts enabled so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Accessory Message didn't come without using SOS mode first.
