It only works when the volume is all the way down or up

No, there are slight taps for each step the volume changes. You might have to take your case off to notice

prodygee t1_itlaaqb wrote

Thats not the case. It’s only outer values.

What? It 100% is there. Maybe it’s removed on newer devices?

Here’s a Reddit post about the feature when it was implemented:

https://www.reddit.com/r/iOSBeta/comments/cjewje/feature_haptic_vibration_when_changing_volume/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Looks like it taps you when you hold the volume up or down, and bumps you when you max it out

the tap ur feeling is the button clicking. haptics on outer values only

It’s definitely not, if I turn off phone vibrations then it’s different. But alright, I’ll enjoy my haptics I guess.

lamulanrouge t1_itljgtq wrote

probably, but for my 14pm neither ring or silent does the haptics you’re suggesting. same behavior on my 13 mini and my X. it’s only doing outer values for me and a lot of other people.

You’re 100% right. No taptics when going step by step only when upper or lower limit - meaning 0 or 100% volume. This is with a 13pro. I think the other guy is confused.

thank u. y’all got me out here putting my naked phones on a glass table tryna hear these ghost vibrations y’all keep talking about thinking i’m the weird one

Thought I was mad but it’s there, subtle. Put the back of the phone to your ear and you will hear it right through the volume range if you hold it with a bigger bump at the end.

i don’t think so. it’s never been a thing on any of my devices. and i’ve been on beta until my 14 pro max so i can’t say it’s ever been there. the volume haptics was a recent thing in the past five years or sumn like that

BritOKCfan t1_itnb36i wrote

It’s also not the case for me on 13pro. Unless we have a bug on just our two phones something here is not right.

MarioIsPleb t1_itnt0z5 wrote

You’re both right. Pressing the buttons only has haptics when you hit min/max volume, but holding them will trigger a haptic tap for each increment up/down.

SarcasticWhistler t1_itko7rj wrote

I don’t ever remember this being a thing but also that seems like a lot of small vibrations too frequently for me.

margosel22 t1_itlfs61 wrote

I never noticed This before! It’s like very mild tiny taps when you hold it and a good bump when you max out and mute it out!

I can also confirm there are haptics outside of min/max volume IF holding down a volume button.

On my iPhone X on ios 16, i don't notice any haptics when doing single press volume adjustments, but if i hit min or max it gives a heavy haptic, and if i hold a volume button down, it gives light haptic bumps for each volume level as it sweeps through the range.
