Not the person you were responding to, but thought I would chip in, if it’s alright.

Been using Tweetbot for the past few years, for a few reasons.

No ads. Less tracking from the app itself. And I’ve noticed way less battery drain compared to the official app.

Now, I much prefer the look of the official app. Tweetbot isn’t the slickest looking app. But I can look past that for a simple, clean user experience that doesn’t bombard me with ads or suck my battery dry.

Plus, it’s $6 a year to support the devs, so that’s not too bad, IMHO.

I’ve been using Tweetbot for years. It doesn’t have ads or promoted / suggested tweets in your timeline. It just shows the tweets of who you follow in chronological order, which is what I want, whereas I just opened the Twitter app and the first tweet is from 17 hours ago followed by a COD ad a tweet from 5 minutes ago and then a tweet from Elon musk, who I don’t follow, then tweet from someone I follow and then another ad. https://imgur.com/a/dBem1xd

you know you can change it so your timeline shows you latest tweets from only the people you follow with no suggested tweets right?

The problems with the twitter app:

  • It shows ads between your tweets.
  • Sometimes it reverts back to showing you tweets selected by the algorithm instead of showing tweets from people you follow, in chronological order. And you have to change that setting again.
  • It doesn't remember the last tweet you saw!!!
