Hello, lords of this subreddit. I have been an android user for as long as I have had smartphones. I am planning to buy the iPhone 14 pro max version but I recently got to know that there's no guaranteed way for me to get all my WhatsApp messages and other data from my android phone to the iPhone. The Move to iOS app works based on how pleased the lords of luck are with you. There are 3rd party apps but they might be compromised on security. Can anyone please let me know a list of things I should know before I make the move? Or is it even worth it to make the move.

Also, I will be getting the iPhone from Canada and using it in India. Any warranty concerns that I should know about? And any good alternatives to iPhone 14 PM that are available at the same or lower price over there?

One last question: Should I get Airpods pro 2nd gen or are there better alternatives? Same goes for the iWatch.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Don't use whatsapp so idk how they work as far as settings and backup go, but most other things can be backed up to Google Drive/Photos if you are okay with using Google. Once you have your iphone just download Gdrive and Gphotos to retrieve your data. Not sure if your contacts would transfer but you can always manually add it to your iphone before resetting your android.

Whether or not it's worth the transition is up to you, you decide what's worth.

The no transferring of WhatsApp messages was why I never made the move sooner but now they have this I moved so you don’t have to worry about that. Dunno about the other stuff

WhatsApp recently added a feature for transferring chats from Android to iOS. It’s a button under the chat settings on iOS, not sure if it’s in the same spot on Android. There also the Move to iOS app that will transfer your chats for you. Either option should transfer your chats seamlessly.

Your warranty will be the same wherever you go, but I do recommend getting AppleCare+ for damage protection ($9/month).

And yes, I’d recommend both the AirPods Pro 2 and Apple Watch. The new AirPods Pro’s sound so good and the volume adjustment feature works incredibly well. Highly recommend.

There are no better alternatives to the Apple Watch if you are looking for smartwatch. If you want sports tracking watch, maybe garmin would be better because of battery life. AirPods Pro have really good sound and battery life with the case (I do have 1st gen though) and pair seamlessly with the iPhone so I would go with them. But this area have more interesting competitors than smartwatches.

According to Meta you can transfer everything but call history and display name using the move to iOS app. Don’t know how important those are to you.

The move to iOS app doesn't always work as intended. The only thing important for me is to retain all the chats.
