I have same issue
delete and reinstall?
I tried still crashing though
This shit is so annoying, I don’t understand what is going on
Me as well I uninstalled and redownloaded it and it is still happening.
glad i’m not alone. delete and re-install was the first thing i tried.
YES! Today it’s been crashing left and right. It’s never been like this before.
Same here. Not only that, but when I restarted my phone my lock and home screen images are gone. Just a black background. Also phone turned really hot. Just something that happened at the same time, or is it related?
as long as it's not just me
YouTube basically exceeds the iPhone’s memory limit which causes the app to get terminated. Wait for a new update.
Down Detector is showing that a bunch of people are reporting crashing :/
I can’t watch anything during my lunch break, and all my subs decided to post today, right now lol 🥲

Ya I was wondering what was happening
Thank you 🙏😩
It crashed my Fire stick last night. Not just the app, but the stick itself.
Same with YouTube Music. A restart seemed to clear the issue for a bit but it came back.
It’s bad, I thought it was just my phone I’m glad it’s not .
Mines weird. Its to the point where if i click a video, it instantly says something along the lines of “cannot play this video”.
Reinstalling fixes it for like 10 minutes.
Resulted in bookmarking the web app on the home page and just using that
Lmao I thought I was the only one
Having the same issue. Same phone. In nj if that makes a difference
I don't use the Youtube app. I access Youtube through Brave browser, which blocks all ads and allows for playback with the screen off. Highly recommend
Had the issue on my iPad at lunch, glad to see I’m not the only one
IPhone 11, had the same issue today.
I have same issue (iPhone 11, iOS 16.1)
What has changed for this memory issue to happen? The app hasn’t changed.
YES! It was happening to me and I was getting really frustrated.
*raises hand*
It’s probably from their new YouTube featured about Hip Hop History Month. For me, the app started crashing when this got featured.
me too i just shattered my back glass and thought i broke something glad is not only me
So it wasn’t only me? YouTube Music is also bugging out today.
I’m on the iPhone 12.
After reading the other posts it’s a good thing I didn’t try the delete and reinstall method as that doesn’t work.
Hip Hop history month was too 🔥 for the iPhone hardware 😂
YouTube confirmed the issue on Twitter and is working on a fix.
The latest releases have been crazy buggy. My “favorite” bug is the one where I can get a full-length video and a short to play at the same time — no idea how, but it happens every few days. That, combined with the titles and text being for one video while another is playing… so much quality!
I thought it was just me. Strange.
Started happening for me on the update. So no.
Also same, YT app is crashing and I got premium too 💀
what is video lite, I’ve got Premium and I’m still crashing
Must be why Youtube almost started my phone on fire yesterday.
It crashes almost the second I open the app
Yes I’m getting same,. Until yesterday as fine but today I’m using and it’s crashing I deleted restart my phone Install again Restarted again No luck keep crashing
I have no interest in hip hop anything. It’s Billy Idol for me. Yaaa baby!
You are an absolute legend. Thank you
Same mines been crashing last 2 hours constantly
I doubt this
Same here. iPhone 12 iOS 16.0.2
Tried it, no joy.
Yep. Just posted about it on the Youtube Music reddit, same problem :/
For like the last 2 maybe 3 hours, quite annoying! But I guess I could have worse problems
Same thing is happening to me, on both my iPhone and iPad. Hopefully there’s a fix soon!

Glad I’m not the only one
Yeah I can’t keep any vids open for more then like 30 seconds same with YouTube music as well like what’s going on??!
Glad it’s not just me. So obnoxious!
Your phones haunted
They are getting raked over the coals now for being a scam. They did market it as being legit. But apparently not.
Is it like Vanced?
It’s an issue they’re working on: https://9to5google.com/2022/11/30/youtube-iphone-crashing/
I can’t watch a video or anything for days now. Only in the browser.
I thought I was tripping. It kept crashing on me too. I have an XR
Well, seems like I didn’t need to reset my phone settings, delete YouTube and update my 11 pro’s software.
Glad to hear that others are having this issue.
Is also happening with Youtube Music
Yup. Whenever I try to play a video I get a message that says "Something went wrong. Try again." I even deleted and reinstalled the app and it's still happening.
Yeah same this is brutal
720p only?
Google needs to get their shit together
It crashed every 10 minutes but the update fixed it
I deleted the app a while back and installed the Vinegar extension for Safari with a shortcut to YouTube on my home screen. Still working great, and avoids having any Google apps installed to the phone.
11pro iOS 14.6 same issues
Not as good but as good as it gets without sideloading
Same issue one iPhone and iPad.
Looks like the very week update of “Bug fixes, performance improvements, and more cat videos” update was bad. Hopefully they roll a fix soon.
Using an iPhone 12 Pro on 16.2 Beta 3 and I am having no crashing problems with the Youtube app. My Youtube app is also up to date so I am not sure why so many people are having crashing problems
Had this happen on my iPad over and over this afternoon. Seems like a YouTube server problem.
Yup. Works on browser though. Apps crashing on new iOS version
Same
Happened to me too, but I couldn't tell if it was an Apple thing or a Youtube thing
It’s an iOS problem. Started for me the second I “updated” to 16.2 beta. Now I’m stuck lol
I'll use the popularity of this post to encourage people to do what I do: remove the YouTube app and use the web. Your content and ad blockers work that way. Also do this for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Mine keeps telling me I have malware when I try to login to google since I updated to 16.2 lol
