I recently got my Iphone 14 pro and have started downloading apps and realized moat of the apps I used on Android either they don't exist in the IOS environment or they work differently.

Hence I summon the fellow members of this community with experience on using Iphone, what apps do you consider must haves and what do they do?

I appreciate it if you also recommend games or not so known apps

I use Yidget to make transparent widgets.

There are other similar apps but this one can install a shortcut that allows you to change your wallpaper and refresh the widgets. This is useful because I change my wallpaper often.

+1 for Apollo for Reddit.

Overlook for weather.

Timescroller to plan conference calls with other time zones.

Squirrelit for tickets and travel stuff.

Citymapper for public transportation.

Also, what do you use your phone for? I have iConnectHue for controlling my lights, Duolinguo for studying language, Paprika for collecting and organizing recipes and Logic Remote for music composition. I'm sure, depending on your interests, lots of folks can recommend good apps.

Halide should only be used by people who know what they’re doing. For the average joe taking average pictures, they’re better off with Apple’s computational photography working its magic.

  • Apollo for Reddit. Best Reddit client by far.
  • Carrot Weather. Insanely customizable and great widgets, plus you can choose between multiple sources.
  • Fantastical. Better UI than the stock app and Reminders integration. Also great widgets.
  • Edison Mail. Adds a lot of nice features but still has a clean UI. Better notifications than the stock app and has a focused inbox.
  • 1Blocker. Not only a great ad blocker for Safari but the paid version also helps block trackers across all apps.

  • Apollo: the best Reddit app I have used
  • Sports Alerts: great sports scores app that also uses live activities to keep you up to date on scores
  • Google Calendar: I have tried fantastical, iOS, and tons of other calendar apps but none have worked as well or had a best overall month view as Google calendar
  • Pocketcasts: Best podcast app I have found and they do constant improvements
  • Crouton: recipe app with live activities. I love this app because I can copy and paste URLs of recipes I like and it important the full recipe and shopping list into the app for easy viewing.

Can I ask what differences there is or what makes Apollo better than the actual Reddit app itself?

One of my favorites is Flightradar24, granted it’s not exactly useful but I like being able to identify aircraft and their specifications.

I use the Shortcuts app for a few things:

Set my phone to dark mode when using Apple Music(coming from Spotify where it's dark only)

Generate a QR code so I can more easily share my home and office WiFi with people(something Android does natively and I wish iOS could do also).

Automatically turn off Do Not Disturb when my alarm goes off in the morning(I know there's a sleep feature, but I don't want to use Apple's Health app for this)

I'm new to the iPhone so I'm sure I'll find more useful things as time goes on.

I love Edison Mail. Been using since I was on Android when I discovered how unreliable my push notifications were. Never had that issue again with Edison.

Literally everything is better for me.

The official Reddit app is terrible imo.

Apollo is fast, customizable, always quick to adop new iOS features, and just an awesome experience all around.

Apollo locks it behind a monthly subscription of $9.99!! Or a lifetime purchase of $50. It’s what I dislike about this app, otherwise it’s perfect for me.

Kinda miss Reddit is Fun on android :(

You can try Apollo, and grow your pet over a dynamic island.

If you want to watch everything without ads, use AdBlocker.

Whoops. And not for me. Reddit is Fun had them for free so that's just the standard I was used to. I already paid $5 for the premium Apollo.

I'm sure there are reasons for it being paid; doesn't mean I have to like it.

Ok to all of you talking about Apollo, thank you! I’ve been using the standard Reddit app for years and already Apollo seems much better.
