WiFi is the better option for iPhone. Even a better option for the new 10th gen iPad because they only put a USB2.0 speed port even though it's USB C.

How can you say it’s a “better option” when you know nothing about the situation? OP must be asking about Ethernet for a reason. I have connected my phone to a network using an Ethernet adapter several times. Obviously for a reason

Because it is the better option, given it is an option. Which is why I say “better” and “option”. Not saying you should never use it. But in the majority of circumstances, Wi-Fi is a better option than Ethernet for iPhones.

But that’s my point. How do you know it’s an “option”? The times I’ve connected my phone via Ethernet was because there was no Wi-Fi to speak of. Your assuming Wi-Fi is available, making it an option.

I'm not telling them to not use Ethernet. I'm just stating a general fact. I am assuming nothing besides that they have an iPhone.

People prefer suggestions that are specific to their topic, rather than just stating a “general fact”. It’s more helpful that way. Also, no need to assume they have an iPhone. OP already specified they have a iPhone SE
