Thinking of buying the Iphone 14 pro but hearing a lot of reviews that the battery is bad. Is it just a software issue?

3branch t1_j25lpbj wrote

Not really, it has to do with a combination of the higher peak brightness, always on display and pro motion display. The a16 chip might be more power hungry too, that im not so sure of though.

DealCykaHUN t1_j28d7ff wrote

I mean if you keep your brightness low, turn off 120hz and use it on regular 60 and forgetting about AOD I doubt it would get bad battery times

panasynch t1_j28f2aw wrote

Sucks cos im planning to buy the 14 pro for those cool features. Aod , 120hz and high brightness

120hz is great, especially if youre a gamer and used to 144, I wouldnt turn that off either

I have the Pro Max and the battery life is awesome, ended yesterday with 40% left.

And the 120hz display is too good to disable, I can’t even use low power mode anymore.

If I do the apple upgrade program am I saving money for the next phone or would I pay the difference?

If I pay $47/mo for the iPhone 14 pro when it comes time to upgrade in the program would I continue paying that same monthly amount but get a new phone? Or would they increase the monthly cost after I hit the 12 months and upgrade to account for a new model?

If you just pay $47 a month and get the new phone it seems like you'd save but wasn't sure where the price difference or amount left to pay ended up if you upgrade halfway through that 2 year pay period

Is it worth getting? Thoughts?

I want a super protective case for my new phone. I have typically used otterbox cases in the past. However, I’d love a case that is both cute and protective.

Phone case needs to be Durable, protective, cute, and magsafe. I want to be able to add my popsocket on the back.

Here are the brands I was looking at: 🍀Casetify - but then I read some bad reviews 🍀Caudable - but no cute colors or designs.

Thank you for the recommendations!

I’m upgrading from an XR. I’m debating between the 13 and 14. I’m mainly wanting a better camera to take photos when I go on research trips for my PhD. I’ll be upgrading from 128GB to 256GB in terms of storage.

So... should I buy an iphone SE 3 or iphone 11?

I've been thinking of trying out an iphone for the first time, and I wanted to go for the cheapest options. It's as far as my budget will go.

Generally speaking... which one would you recommend?

Edit: I want something that lasts me for a long time

in terms of software updates the SE 3 would last u longer but the 11 would give you better battery life & cameras

Received the iPhone 14 as a gift.

Currently using iPhone X.

Should I pay the $200 difference and upgrade to the iPhone 14 Pro or stick with what I have?

I’ve watched plenty of YouTube comparison videos and it appears the Pro camera is marginally better and the phone has a few extra features that I probably won’t use, but it would be nice to know I have the best phone available.

Time for a upgrade…. So I’m currently using my old iPhone XS after selling my z flip 4 ( loved the phone but was wayy to delicate for me) and have been wondering what phone I should upgrade too?

I’ve been thinking of upgrading to the iPhone 12 Pro as I loveee taking pictures with my phone of my pets and with my mates etc etc. however my mate has the normal 13 and said it’s amazing and my other mate with the normal 12 loves hers. Since I’ve had the XS I fell in love with the more premium feeling iPhones that’s why I’m leaning to a pro.

Not really sure which one too choose now, as I haven’t got a massive budget because I’m planning on buying a ps5. What’s your guy’s opinion

Just traded in my iPhone 12 for a 14 Pro Max. I thought I wanted the bigger size and I like it to an extent but it is an adjustment. For those that have made this upgrade, is it something you get used to or did you go back down to a more compact size? I have 30 days with Verizon to try it out and if it's still weird I might consider going to just a 14 Pro.

My beloved 8 Plus has served me well for years, but nowadays, the battery barely survives a school day of use.

I’m looking at the iPhone 13 PM, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone 14 PM as options (I got pretty big hands). I’m probably gonna keep this phone for the next 4-5 years.

Pro features are cool and all but I don’t take much photos or video. Mostly for social media consumption and maybe a few mobile games here and there.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be nice. Thank y’all!

Is trading in an iPhone 11 Pro Max with a iPhone 14 (regular) considered an upgrade? I have started to hate the big size of my 11 pro max, and been wanting to switch to a smaller phone, however I’m thinking of just getting the normal iPhone 14 (better price, lighter, the 3 cameras are too big on the 14 pro). I’m wondering if it would be a mistake to go for 14, and if it’s better to consider getting the 14 pro instead.

You’re better off with a used 13 pro max or 13 pro if you’re considering the 14+, it’s funny how that’s actually a better phone despite it being a year older

Should I buy an iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 mini?

I'm upgrading from an iPhone 8. I like the idea of the smaller phone but I'm worried about the battery life and size of text/keyboard as I'm already a bad typer on my iPhone 8. On the other hand, I don't love big phones either as I tend to keep my phone in a case in my pocket and do a fair bit of browsing at night with one hand.

Thoughts?

Hi all.

I just wanted to ask here if anyone knew what I could do in my situation to somehow get a iPhone 13 mini instead of my 14 pro. The phone is too big for me, and I don’t love the dynamic island. The 13 mini is the phone I would love to trade for this one, but Apple doesn’t allow you to trade in current generation phones for older generations. What is my best option?

Edit* The return window on the 14 Pro has already closed.

I recently switched from iPhone 7 Plus to iPhone 11, and I really dislike the experience. I can’t navigate or type with a single hand on the iPhone 11, and it falls on my face when I hold it with one hand on my bed. Should I switch back to iPhone 7 Plus or get a iPhone SE 2022? I like LCD screen and the classic home button.

Looking for a small smartphone, thinking about a refurbished iPhone SE 2016 (1st gen)

Hey all!

I'm currently using an Android phone, specifically a Xiaomi Mi Mix 3; the problem is that I usually have to recharge it at least twice a day with normal usage (for example, from 9am to 8pm, with 2 hours of screen time, it arrives at 20% of battery remaining), without considering that it's laggy and buggy. Lately, I've noticed that I'm using the phone just for messaging on WhatsApp or Telegram and sometimes reading articles or emails; I don't use social media, but I want to reduce my time on YouTube.

For these reasons, I'm considering switching to a lighter phone, like the iPhone SE 1st gen. I know it runs iOS 15 and won't get software updates in the future, but it has the form factor and the characteristics I want from a phone (including NFC for contactless payments).

I'm only afraid about the battery. Considering what I said above, and that I usually make an average of 4 hours of audio recording every day, do you think it would be a good daily driver? Is it worth buying a refurbished one for 105€ (about 110$)?

Thanks for your help

iPhone SE battery is known to be very short, especially the 2016 one, newer ones aren't much better. I'd try for an iPhone 13 mini if you still want a small phone, but don't expect battery to be great.

So, obviously, no one ever needs a new phone when they have last years' model, unless you broke or lost it. With that said, before upgrading, I consistently read on the internet, on Reddit, in YouTube reviews, and even from friends, that going from the 13PM to the 14PM was an inconsequential upgrade.

But for me, just to offer my two cents to anyone with the 13PM still wondering about maybe upgrading, I think it's a bigger year-over-year upgrade over the 13 Pro Max than the 13 PM was over the 12 Pro Max.

The big two things from 12 to 13 was 120 hz screen and the notch getting smaller. The 120 hz is a huge upgrade. But the Dynamic Island and Always On Display (which I love without a background, personally; it's less distracting) are two much more noticeable, truly functional differences.

The Dynamic Island needs more third-party support to truly be maximized, sure, but it's the first truly NEW thing in years. And it feels like it. Phone calls look sick. Having sports scores up there is really cool. Spotify displaying what you're listening to is really nice. And the always on display let's you see notifications without picking up your phone, and if you're like me, once you pick it up, you've probably just surrendered no less than 30 seconds of your life scrolling something. Being able to see without touching is really helpful, actually, to reduce phone usage.

I know the chip didn't upgrade much, the phone body is almost identical, and at this point, the cameras have honestly been so good that those updates feel almost imperceptible, and that the camera bump and weight increased, but I think if you're able to get out of your 13 PM by selling/trading it in at a price that's fair, the new battery, Dynamic Island and Always on display make this feel like a really good upgrade. Better than last years.

Oh, and the black color is dope.
