I know there are many cases that are thicker or offer other protection features way superior than the Apple iPhone cases. But what makes a case like Spigen Mag Armor, Tech21 Evo, or most of the standard 3rd party cases better than the Apple one in terms of shock protection? Is it that the Apple case easily pops off?

I really like the feel of the Apple silicone and dislike slippery hard iPhone cases, but I always end up buying a Spigen, Tech21, Torras or another case as I fear the Apple case won't protect as much on a fall. But is it true?

Thanks

Price, range of colours and the iPhone silicone is like a lint roller for getting stuff stuck to it.

I feel like apples case quality over the last few years has significantly gone down hill.. I would always use an apple leather case, but the last few variations have resulted in peeling, tearing, etc.. and thats just form normal use... Bought a cheap PLATINUM (Best Buy brand) leather case for my iPhone 13 Pro last year.. and it was worlds better than the apple one and was half the price...

Haven't even thought about getting an apple case for my 14PM..

I agree. I think the whole accessory spec has lowered. I change my case often to go with circumstance and a spigen/ tech21/casetify has always been better. Even Etsy for some but they have to be MagSafe too. It’s like I’ve set myself a challenge to find the case I’ll want to stick with for longer than a few weeks at a time.

It's grippy. So I wonder if being grippy I am less likely to drop it. I had spiegen and it slipped off my hands a couple of times, but no damage. Kind of a chicken and the egg thing. Is dropping less but less protection better than dropping more and better protection.
