You don’t see those options because your phone has only one rear camera, some third party apps can create digital zoom when recording, but it may be a pinch the screen while recording option rather than a 2x button.

ah that's a bummer. but I don't see what the number of cameras has to do with it. Other apps that use the camera have no problem zooming with a one finger gesture.

Because the extra camera hardware is putting you closer to the subject, other apps are using digital zoom, so you’re degrading the image quality the more that you zoom in, which is why I’m assuming Apple doesn’t put that in their camera app.

If I follow correctly, you can place a finger on the Zoom selector and hold. That will open a dial you can then rotate to zoom in and out with one finger.
