Yayy thanks I’ll check them out!

I really like Flocktown. Every week you can customize what is in your farm box. There is a nice selection of add-ons, like local meats and cheeses.
I did Flocktown two years ago. I really appreciated being able to customize and also being able to skip weeks and roll over the credits. In Brooklyn I had always done CSAs that were only every other week and I wasn't able to find any of those in JC, but I'm away enough that I needed something with an option to skip weeks, and this was even better. Only had an issue once or twice and they always fixed it very quickly. Even let you spend all the leftover credits at the end of the season on the fancy stuff or roll over to the next year
(only reason I stopped using them is theft in my complex in general has made me slow down the amount of stuff I'm getting delivered)
Thanks! Oo being able to skip weeks sounds perfect. Do they do referral codes by any chance?
Just an fyi on flocktown, they definitely oversold memberships with regard to their crop yield. The idea of picking what’s in your box is nice, but you effectively have to set an alarm for 10am on Saturday to have a 2-3 minute window to race through their web store before any swap items will become sold out.
This wasn’t an issue two years ago and the choices were much more varied. It was primarily a bunch of different types of greens for much of this year.
If they get their act together this year then they’re worth it, especially for the $1-2 per order doorstop delivery. Other csas either charge more for that or require you to pick up at a central location like the farmers market at the path.

I just bought the Medium Share box. First year joining but I usually buy from them at the Grove St Farmer Market stand.
What is a CSA
Community-supported agriculture, so like a subscription box from local farms for usually produce/flowers. I see some posts from last year or older on this sub but the links I saw in those seem inactive so just wondering if anyone has any updated recommendations
I think Central Valley Farm at Van Vorsts maker has a csa you can order and pick up there. We might look to try it this spring
Did StonyHill for a few years. Got kind of tired of lugging a big box home on my way home from the Grove St Path, especially in the fall when it was filled with potatoes and squash.
Now we do Misfits.
Bone In does CSA delivery to Jersey City. They do veggies and have a once a month meat one too. We did it for a while during early pandemic and it was great.

Check out farm to people, you get a delivery CSA every week (with varying sizes available) and you can add groceries to your order, so if you need pasta or eggs or something you can add it on and it'll come with the normal CSA delivery. Also, you can adjust what's in the CSA, usually you get, e.g., 10 of 12 things. So if you don't like one item, or want two of another, it's very easy to switch.
I've had it for more than a year now and it's been very reliable. The only issue is that it lacks the romance of getting everything from one farm, but the produce is all local so you're still supporting local farmers.
