Hi everyone, I’m looking to install some curtains/blinds at my apartment, I have two bay windows and one large window. I think I can do the large window myself easily, but I’m afraid I’ll mess up the bay windows. Does anyone has good recommendations for installation? And would it make sense if I do the measurement and buy the materials directly vs leaving it all up to the curtain shop? What’s the estimate cost of installation? Thank you very much!

I know that Home Depot offers installation on these, as does Lowes. Ceiling mount hardware is pretty cheap and as long as you adequately template out ahead of time where everything has to go, it's not that hard. Make sure you're leaving extra room for the finial (the decorative piece on the end of the rod) on each angle, or if you're buying a bay window rod, ensure your measurements are good (or buy it from a place that will let you can return it).

Installation cost shouldn't be more than a couple hundred.

I had a terrible experience with blinds and Home Depot, please don't use them. Just call around and visit some of the blinds stores, they'll be able to give you estimates and you're not obligated to go through with them.

I needed blinds and bought on Home Depot maybe 3 years ago. A dozen times they sent them by UPS or FedEx, each time damaged. Long skinny cardboard box. No chance in hell they’d make it undamaged.

Complete wtf. I eventually gave up and bought elsewhere. Must have cost them quite a bit in shipping and damaged merch.

How awful and frustrating!! They shipped ours with a local company, but the main issue was that the guys who came to measure, those measurements were input incorrectly by the Home depot guy causing 3 separate shipments of re-orders. There was even one time I literally went through each measurement (off the install guys sheet) with the HD manager on the phone and still caught mistakes on their end as she repeated back wrong measurements that were in their computer. Then the installation guys had to come out for the measure, the install which they couldn't complete, and then the final install. The first install was terrible too where they guy installed incorrectly and other stuff I've blocked out of mind!! It took ONE YEAR for the whole thing to be done correctly. Corporate talked the talk but never actually did anything.
