Has anyone experienced insanely high electric bills in the last 2 months? Mine for my 2BR has gone up to $400-$500 a month with no real change (in my opinion) to actual electric usage. Historically been around $100-$180 per month during this time.

Hope you didn't fall for one of those 3rd party servicer scams where they promise cheaper bills but actually deliver the opposite

My bill spiked up 50% from average in Dec last year . The next months bill was reduced though, and I came to know that the Dec bill was an estimate . Not sure if the same applies to you.

Our bill has gone up a bit compared to previous years but nothing like what you are describing. We just had our largest winter bill ever at $175 for the period from mid-Dec to mid-january. Our most current bill (mid-Jan to mid-Feb) just posted and it was $140. Our usual Winter bills are normally around $100, but we have spent a lot more time at home these two months compared to last year (which is reflected in the increased usage) and our new place is ALL electric, whereas our previous one had gas stove/oven. Overall, I calculated we have seen a 10% increase in cost when all is factored in, which is more or less in line with the PSE&G rate increase.

Okay, this is super helpful for reference. This is more what I would expect honestly which is why I was so surprised at the exponential increase we saw!

Yes, I called and tried to negotiate with them yesterday and their response was for me to send them a picture of the meter in case the reading was wrong πŸ˜‘ the highest bill we had last year was for $317 in March after we moved in in November and had a delay in setting up our account so I was SHOCKED to see what Jan and Feb were.

You should be able to see your electric usage. The bill should give a breakdown of kWh used during each period and which portion of your bill is for delivery vs usage.

Mine went up an INSANE amount once, they asked me to take a picture of the meter, and it was resolved very quickly.
