Looking to refurnish our indoor plant collection with some new ones - mainly larger statement pieces. Where do you buy your plants? Willing to drive for good quality and fair prices.

Thanks!

I go to 14th Street garden center. I used to avoid it thinking parking would be a pain but there's always parking on the street to the north. Knowledgeable workers, quality selection, and large enough that the prices are reasonable. It's not as cheap as Lowe's or home Depot but not as pricey as the smaller high quality shops. I used to go to home Depot and you can tell the plants at 14th Street are cared for so much better. They will also pot them for you and help you bring large ones to your car.

I’ve always done well with 14th street garden center. They are very knowledgeable and have replanted a lot of things over the years for me too

PLNTD is hands down the best plant shop around. Best variety, most helpful staff, and they will order in plants for you if they don’t have what you want in stock. I’ve have multiple plants from there and they repot your plants into pots for you at no charge which saves the mess at home. Plus they’re locally owned!

Be careful with big stores plants and pests. Early in my plant collection stage I got a plant from IKEA. Had fungus gnats. Spread to all my other plants. Was a huge pain in the ass to get rid of them.

If you do get plants from these place do you research on how to isolate and treat your plants before bringing them into the rest of the fam.

Early on I bought a bunch of plants from 14th St. They are still very healthy and have given me tons of propagations into new plants.

I have a few pothos propagations I'd be willing to give away or trade for. I have a few snake plant ones too but they take forever! In May I am going to chop up my huge monstera and try and trade for those and grow some more plants.

Out of nowhere there is now a plant shop on Washington St. between Sussex and Morris in Paulus Hook. I know nothing about it other than when I walked by this week there were lovely plants spilling out into the street.

The Farm at Green Village is a drive but prices are decent and you could make a day of it just enjoying their outdoor area full of flowers, plants etc. Theres also a local store PLNTD on Erie street, if you want to support a local biz.

Lowes has reasonable prices on indoor plants. Full priced ones are very nice like the palms and Fiddle Leaf Figs. Sometimes you can get other plants on the clearance rack for half or more off. I’m not aware of any nurseries in the immediate Hudson County area.

Be careful with Lowes. Bought some plants there and ended up with a huge gnat infestation. It was horrible.

Thank you! I’ll check it out. I should have mentioned I’m looking for a little more of an exotic collection as we have a sizeable one already with most of the classic staples.
