Kung pho on grand or Saigon Bistro in the heights. Both solid choices

People are going to tell you NYC… but Miso and Ani are equally ok. Ani for dining in, Miso for takeout.

It's not in JC but there are some awesome hand pulled noodles somewhat similar to Pho at Shan Shan in Parsippany. And I know it's sort of a chain but the Ramen at Inspirationroll (Morristown) is pretty solid.

Seconding Saigon Bistro: it's my go to for no-frills pho

For ramen: Miso Ramen is solid but Muteki (either JC or Hoboken) and South Street (Hoboken) are probably the best of the bunch

For Ramen, I like Muteki and Ramen Green in the 99 Ranch food court. Ani and Miso ramen are both ok but not something to rave about

I love Ahri’s Kitchen - their ramen is Korean rather than Japanese, but so SO tasty. Favorite kimchi I’ve ever had, too.

If you do ani ramen like a lot of people are mentioning, the montclair location is SO SO much better. I really have enjoyed the ramen in 99 ranch though & it’s a great price

love menya sandaime. i think it gets overlooked because it's not on or near the newark ave restaurant strip and people just don't know about it. highly recommend them for delivery (i've never actually been to the restaurant).

saigon bistro isn't even at true viet restaurant.

it amazes me how many people love this spot. it's not even owned by viets.

it has a few viet / thai dishes and most of their ingredients aren't what you are suppose to use.

their bahn mi is especially bad.

i'm asian and most asians i know don't go there.

RIP new thanh hoi

EDIT: i'm sorry if i offended anyone here. i really just hope you go to a real viet joint and eat real pho. new thanh hoi was the closest one to being good, service was butt tho.

the other decent place is in west side, Thanh Huong.

real viet aunties there.
