Any local place to walk in and get a UK sim?

I screwed up. I was planning on getting sims from Amazon for a trip this weekend, got distracted and now it's too late. Of course we can buy them in London, but given NYC is the other great city on the Atlantic, I thought perhaps the many travelers here know if there's somewhere I can just walk in and walk out with sims.

Why not just get it in the airport as you’re leaving? I got mine at baggage claim and it took literally 2 minutes and was cheaper than Amazon.

Thanks. We had a bad experience trying to do that in Panama, and ended up getting it at a mall, with the language barrier making it a farce. But I guess London ain't Panama!

Airport or any cell phone store really. In many places (I think London is among them) you'll even find prepaid SIM's at the checkout at grocery stores like you'd find gift cards here.

If you're staying at a Hotel, they also can give some recs on where to find better priced packages. They get asked multiple times a day.

I've never bought a SIM in an airport, my guess is that an airport would be the most expensive place to buy one, as it is for anything else.

At this point, it will probably be easiest to wait until you’re in London and then go to a Vodafone or EE store there to buy a prepaid sim.

You usually get the best deal and plan options that way versus buying at the airport or trying to buy one online.

Going to a store there is usually a relatively painless process because prepaid plans are much more common there than in the US. The people at the store will usually set it up for you and they know all the tricks to make sure your phone gets registered correctly because they do this stuff all the time.
