How did you manage to end up with $1.93 on the metrocard in the first place?

You were able to get bonuses in the past. Mta got rid of it a few years back and many people still have weird balances. My card has a 0.02 balance if fully depleted.

Pro tip - always buy $22 or $44 when refilling so you don’t leave any balances

In the past, I've used machines in the past that allowed any amount as long as it was over $1.00. Never noticed the 5c thing.

I don’t even recall since I’ve had that card for so long (even though the physical card was replaced several times).
