I'm starting a new job soon and am considering using the NY Waterway ferry to commute instead of the PATH, since my new office is on the east side and way closer to the Pier 11 ferry stop (<1 minute walk) than the WTC PATH (15 min walk).

I vaguely recall there used to be parking at the Liberty Harbor terminal, but their website is extremely unclear - it says "facilities are accessible 24 hours a day" but doesn't give any lot or pricing info.

Any help from JC locals would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not totally sure what you're referring to. EDIT: misread, I see which one you are talking about. The first 3 are in reference to Paulus Hook

If its the lot that is at 55 Hudson, it's permanently closed.

If its the lot under Goldman Sachs, I am unsure if that has public access.

If this is a garage, I suppose they exist though they are not as near. They are ludicrously expensive.

Marin Blvd does have parking near Surf City, but I do not think you are referring to this ferry, based off your description. Edit: you are. Though, the below still stands

None of these are free.

Also, unless your job is giving you a free ferry ride, paying for parking + the unsubsidized ferry would be astronomical. Not even accounting for gas. You didn't specify where you are coming from, but I think you would waste more time finding parking, walking to the ferry, waiting for the ferry, being on the ferry, etc, than just taking PATH and doing some extra walking. That walk is almost entirely indoors as well. There is a connected path from Broomfield Place (right next to that Pier) to WTC. So it's not unpleasant.

Save yourself gas, money, and time, and take PATH.

I'm intimately familiar with the PATH commute - I've been doing it for years. Just looking at alternatives. Cost isn't really an issue, since it's basically the same price for me to take NJ Transit to the PATH as it would be for me to pay for parking and the ferry. I drive an EV so I don't pay for gas.

I thought the parking lot for the ferry was between the Zeppelin Hall lot and the water, close to the RV Park. Looking at google maps it looks like it might be the one by Surf City, actually.

Yes you are right.

I still don't know where youre coming from on NJ Transit. One factor you should account for is that traffic is absolutely terrible leaving from JC at rush hour. Unless you leave at 3pm or 7:30pm.

I have never parked there myself, but live nearby and have walked down there a few times. I believe the parking is basically right next to Surf City - you just make a right when you get down to the end of Marin. There is usually a guard in a booth who I’m sure could direct you. Unfortunately I don’t know about pricing.

Lots of spaces since quarantine made some of this commuters give up monthly tickets. Super easy to park there, I'd just go down there at any time and talk to the attendant at the booth

I lived at Liberty Towers and their monthly rate was around $300 I think. It was run by Little Man parking. The parking lot by surf city you have to contact Liberty Harbor or Grand Street Property Management to find out rates for parking. They will boot if you do not have a parking permit. You can get away with it sometimes on the weekends during the hours that Zeppelin Hall/Surf City is open because they provide free parking as a perk but if you leave your car overnight they will 100% boot you at some point. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
