This is turning into the new “best bagels” question it’s asked so frequently. Use the search function.

Unpopular take: we don't have great wings in DTJC, or even in all of JC. There are some decent wings in some places, but nothing that is truly special or even great. If you want insanely good wings, drive down to Philly and hit up Moriarty's. As ridiculous as it sounds, it is totally worth it to drive there just to have wings and drink some quality beer.

I’ve heard about that place a few times now. I’ve yet to make a trip down there lately. Need to check it out.

The pub on like walnut?

YES. That's the one... 1116 Walnut. As if it wasn't enough that they have ridiculously good wings, they also have an insanely good selection of beers on tap. The wings are whole wings, not the wing portions thing they serve in most places. A Moriarty's wing is essentially 2 (or, 3?) wings elsewhere.

Seconded on Ed & Mary's if you like Buffalo wings in particular (IMO better than white star, but I love White Star's buffalo cauliflower as a healthier alternative)

My issue with Ed & Mary wings is the lack of sauce and lack of heat. Buffalo wings should be slathered with sauce and Ed & Mary's kinda dry the few times I have had them.

Also, they used to have a disclaimer on their menu about how hot their World Destroyer wings are and how they wouldn't offer a refund if you couldn't take the heat. I ordered and was completely disappointed. Felt no heat. I should have asked for a refund due to absence of heat. (Although, I find all buffalo style wings in JC to be way too tame. A place that offered honest-to-god hot buffalo wings would do well I think)

On the other hand, Ed & Mary's Sweet Thai Chili wings are excellent.

Now that wings are 2-3 bucks a pop, I don't think anywhere is really worth it anymore, let alone best.

I have yet to find exceptional wings--and now that the going rate seems to be more than $2/wing, I think I'll be moving on to a new favorite junk food.

The best overall wings I have found are the Jerk BBQ wings at Freetown Road on Newark.

The best buffalo wings are either Lucky 7's or White Star.
