Looking for a therapist, preferably a woman, who specializes in disordered eating. It would be a plus if they believe in health at every size/HAES, and if they accept insurance.

I saw a therapist for a year when I lived elsewhere, and it was really effective, but various unavoidable things have happened in my life, and I can feel myself regressing and having the intrusive thoughts again.

Have you tried Psychology Today? You should be able to put in your zip code and any specialties you’re looking for.

I’ve tried before, but it’s pretty hard to find someone who believes in HAES outside of reviews from other people.

I stand corrected - I must have not used the right filters or gotten too filtered the last time I looked.

That’s because HAES is nonsense. No one should be stigmatized for their weight or appearance but any health professional that tells you being overweight will not lead to negative health outcomes is just lying to you.

It’s a little fucked up that you’re telling someone, whose health you don’t know and who openly shares that they have an eating disorder, that seeking out a therapist that doesn’t spew fatphobic rhetoric is nonsense.

There is a pretty big gulf between fatphobia and scientifically and medically inaccurate nonsense like HAES. Any therapist that tells you with a straight face that you can be healthy at any size should lose their license.

That’s why you are having such a hard time finding a therapist that is ok with that approach. Most of them aren’t that unethical.

Yeah, I’m not going to listen to your fatphobic bullshit.

Why even go to a therapist if you just want someone who is going to tell you what you want to hear? You could just talk to your mirror if you want to do that.

I don’t have to justify anything to you. Go find someone else to troll.

Check out the Institute for Personal Growth. I saw a therapist there for cognitive behavioral therapy but they offer all kinds of specialities and I know it includes disordered eating. They are very inclusive.
