Yes he was totally Asperger's, but I don't believe he was actively annoying, just uninterested in other people for the most part. That included a disinterest in collecting accolades. He also discovered X-rays, thought it was interesting and moved on to something else interesting.

But that doesn't mean it's ok for other people to take credit for his discoveries, any more that was ok for Edison to take personal credit for the work of his lab staff.
