I lost my ID a bit ago and need a new one and I saw somewhere that apparently you can get a new ID at the post office instead of the DMV. I tried looking up which ones near me do it but I cant find much. If anyone has any ideas please let me know :)

The MVC is the only place to get a state ID. The Post Office can help to get a passport which is accepted as an ID, but not exactly a wallet friendly one.

Agree with what Scuba said above, but I also think the post office can provide alternative forms of identification for those who do not need a driver’s license. These are called Post Office ID Cards you can go to your nearest post office with the correct documents, and you can apply for the card in person.

Some post offices may require you to book an appointment in advance. It is advisable to contact the office beforehand to check their application procedure for post office ID cards. List of documents can be found at the below link:

That's exactly the article I found talking about this. I'm curious if anyone actually had tried this though. I might have to call post office near me and ask maybe

You can order a replacement from the DMV online I did it not long ago. No need to go in person

You can get a US Passport card if you are a US passport holder from the post office (you can get it the same time you apply for/renew a passport). The card is the same size as a license and has photo, DOB, etc.
