As with any Democrat-led city??? Idk why this is a surprise to anyone lmao

Come on. The reason the (largely conservative, unionized, fairly unaccountable to anyone but themselves) cops don’t take reports of e.g. package/ car thefts or traffic violations has absolutely nothing to do with politics and absolutely everything to do with the fact that they’re lazy and believe it’s beneath them. Or that they want to keep crime stats low, so they just ignore the most common crimes.

Ah so you will disagree that most democrat run cities don’t have coincidentally similar problems lol okay

Tell me how this specific democrat run city is preventing the cops from taking crime reports?

My friend, you are asking the wrong question. You should be asking why is it that culture and society in Jersey City has allowed for this type of behavior (behavior of the citizens) to proliferate? You can’t expect a police force that is not incentivized to act and clean up the neighborhood…to act and clean up the neighborhood.
I run by police officers on Newark every morning. I usually say hi. Tomorrow I’ll stop and chat with them, tell them about what people say, and report back.

Really? You can’t expect police officers to do their job? The job that they are paid for? Isn’t that incentive enough? The rest of us have to do our jobs or get fired. The police get to do whatever they feel like with impunity.
And sure, society in America is deeply fucked up. Ideally, people wouldn’t be stealing. I suspect you and I would disagree significantly on the route to getting there. But most of us work within an imperfect system and still do our damned jobs.
Would you suggest that EMT’s don’t bother picking up car crash victims because there’s always going to be some idiot who disobeys the road rules and makes it unsafe? Of course not.

You’re very unaware of how American cities work then. You seem like one of those people who promotes sanctuary cities and then complains when people who broke the federal immigration law get bussed up to your city.
That said, your argument is invalid. EMT’s ignoring car crash victims could disproportionately affect people of color. That’s why they MUST take care of victims. Cops worrying themselves with low level crimes disproportionately affects people of color; this is why they MUST ignore them.

Although it could be the very same reason police officers cannot/do not act upon people stealing under $1000 of merchandise from stores in San Francisco. Democratic policies that are meant to protect so called “protected classes of people” (Black, Latino) inherently allow for low level criminal activity to proliferate because the notion is that if you’re tough on crime it will disproportionately affect Blacks and Latinos. Being tough on crime, even the lowest of crimes, breeds a culture that says “we don’t fuck around you’ll get put where you belong if you break the law - any law” and then your police force will be forced to report on all crimes. Does this potentially force police officers to spend time on low level crimes meanwhile there is a shoot out across town? Possibly. Up to you on how you want to divvy up the force and their attention and/or their funding.
What you’re asking for is what most democratic pundits would call “racist policy” and by this logic you are a racist. Congrats on being inducted to the majority of citizens who are considered racist under this ideology.
