I loved those seats - when I saw them gone I figured the city had taken them in for the winter or something. I'm glad they lasted as long as they did. What a purposefully horrible thing to do.

I also loved those chairs. Used to sit there with my son there in chill evenings when he was a baby.

Such a shitty thing to do 😔

What? Noooo! Who would do that? People are so savage. I love seeing those in the most random places. Why on earth would anyone be so hateful to destroy those.

Is it illegal to fish them out by hand? If I wont get arrested, i'll do it tomorrow evening.

Well it is very cold water, very slippery, and you probably would t have proper safety gear. Im not sure if it would be trespassing but the fence and wall kind of imply “do not cross”.

Maybe if you used a rope and a hook to catch them and pull them up?

We need to get some of those magnet fishing bros from YouTube

Looks like some of them are still locked together, might be able to get a bunch at once but I also echo the caution of the slippery rocks. Otherwise definitely not illegal.

Such logic is why so many people suffer, imo. Its not wrong, to think someone is better equipped, but why wait.

Sent a message, happy to help if you're interested in attempting or at least assessing whether they can be safely pulled out of the water.

Seems like the tables were recovered last night. If its not the same location, please post where they were dumped.

They should report it to the Police, not that the Jersey City Police Department cares about things like that , but if it gets to the right ears they may be forced to investigate. Surveillance cameras help significantly in situations like this. Volunteers may want to pick up what was thrown into the river.

When I have time, I yeet car batteries into the river to help charge the electric eels. it’s not much, but I like to do my part🤠

flying6speed t1_ivs5srr wrote

There's gotta be security cameras from one of the many surrounding office/apt buildings. Not sure if JCPD would investigate but would be great if they did. I'm guessing the value of the chairs and tables is large enough as a whole to at least legally warrant an investigation...

The sad thing is even if they caught the guy who did it he would not be punished - police/prosecutors have been completely hand strung by this DA, Mayor, etc.
