I recently found 20 year old mint condition menus from two local takeout places I frequent. All because I cleaned every newer one out of the house and went hunting for them.

It was a big difference from even before inflation, with the Chinese menu. Most of the prices were around half of what they are now. The chicken place was already overpriced back then, so they're up only about 40%

Baumol's cost disease, labor intensive services increase in price faster than goods. Can't quite automate a chef nearly as efficiently as a production line can be.
