What’s the general consensus on where to take the food handoff from a delivery driver for people in non-luxury buildings?

Do you go out to their car to grab it through their window? Do you meet them on the street? Do you buzz them in and meet them in your building lobby? Do you make them come to your apartment door?

Most of the time they come to my door which is my preference, sometimes they meet me in the vestibule, sometimes they meet me outside.

Usually, the delivery guy calls me. I answer, walk to the porch, collect my food, tip him, and part ways.

I specifically put for the delivery driver to come into the vestibule…but they never do and always call me at which point I tell them to come into the vestibule

Door to my apartment. If they call me to tell me they’re outside I say ok ring the buzzer I’ll let you in.

I usually meet them at the front door of the building or outside.

Not making them walk up flights of stairs.

Anyone still making their third party delivery person double park outside and go up to their apartment door instead of meeting at building entrance is a lazy asshole sorry not sorry. (Unless you’re handicapped in some way)

For an EXTRA TIP, I make them (come right into my house and) lay it out on my dinner table, and then give me a nice, soothing back rub while I'm chomping down on it.

If I’m tipping someone $5-$10 to drive my food a few miles, I expect it to be delivered to my door.

Not really - I get a delivery person with a car when the app says they are on a bike 95% of the time. But if one is too lazy to make it to the front door to meet them I guess the person ordering wouldn’t notice this.

How about Ilana-doesnt-treat-the-delivery-person-like-they-are-a-personal-servant?

But I’m sure you don’t feel guilty at all because you totally don’t sound defensive :)

I'm assuming it's because it's hard for them to look within and realize they've become the kind of dork who thinks tipping $5 gives them the power to make an ubereats driver climb four flights of stairs and leave their car double parked on the street because they were too lazy to put on shoes.
