My partner and I are considering moving to Jersey City and the Kennedy Lofts building in Journal Square looks attractive. I was wondering if anybody here has any first-hand experience with that building or knows anybody who has lived there?

I'm generally curious about people's experiences living there but my most pressing question is about bugs. I hate roaches and know that they can depend a lot on the building.

Thanks for any insights!

Very old building, especially compared to what is currently going up in the neighborhood. Not sure what your budget is but you could probably get something much newer/nicer. Can't speak to the actual units themselves though, sorry!

It’s a former office building that was gut renovated and converted into apartments less than 10 years ago.

I read that the building opened in 2014. I'm surprised to hear that described as very old.

My issue with the heights is that the commute to lower Manhattan is much worse from there.

It’s honestly not terrible. You just have to know when the busses run down to hoboken. I grab the 87 to hoboken path, and Im to 23rd in 40 minutes total. The issue is if you miss the bus, then I just citi bike down.

The PATH from journal Square takes like 20 minutes to 23rd during rush hour. So I’d say that’s a much easier commute than switching between buses and trains

It takes 15 from hoboken and you don’t have to ever step foot in journal square, though I have a personal hatred for JS after hurricane sandy. So I’m probably projecting. Just prefer the hoboken commute and I get back at ungodly hours because I’m the bar manager of a busy midtown restaurant, and late night journal square ain’t my cuppa tea

Check out the buildings by Liberty State Park. Good access to lower Manhattan, all new buildings and reasonably (comparing to Manhattan lol) priced
