At 1 1/2? Playgrounds all over if it's nice. There are a few indoor playground types of places as well:

Kids also like trains, so maybe a light rail ride?

Any trip into NYC (tons of museums, some geared toward that age) becomes a 2-for-1 deal with the PATH ride that’s usually equally as exciting to them.

Do you have any museum to recommend in NYC for ~2year old?

(last time I checked, they all seemed closed post-covid)

Lol they’re 1.5. Do they need to do anything?

Haha he's not a newborn. Toddlers do stuff!

Yes, but, honestly... not that much. At that age, what made our now three-years-old son happiest was to just hang out at home with his parents or interacting with abstract stuff. Heck, even a trip to the supermarket was a fun activity for him.

They do stuff. They’re just pretty unaware of what the hell is actually going on. The only places geared toward them are Gymboree and the like.

The Library on Jersey Ave is the bomb, especially with their activities for kids. (Open Saturday but not Sunday).

The Little Gym of Jersey City. It’s once a week, kids early as 1 year old. Ours loves it, it’s nice because parents can switch off and on who goes in. Nice Italian bakery near by for who is on rotation.

My Gym by Hamilton Park might have free trials. They also have a week trial for $29, something like that.

Honestly, most of LSC is not geared toward toddlers. If you have a car available the Staten Island Zoo and Staten Island Children's Museum are easy to get to and quite good. The zoo has a fair bit of indoor exhibits.

Last time I went to lsc they had a "balance and wobble" area or something like that which is perfect for toddlers to play in. Plus the aquarium area is fun for toddlers, and there's a paw patrol playground. Plenty for toddlers, though it is expensive these days!

2nd this! Lots to do for toddlers. Last time I went we saw the Sesame Street show, Wobbly world, played with Magatiles, looked at animals, and played in the Dino dig (although a bit cold out now for that).

It's pricey, a family LSC membership pays for itself with 3 trips.

The library by Hamilton Park on 8th st does story hour every Wednesday and Thursday, I forget what time. 10am? Loads of little ones there. Other branches probably do it too.

There are a few children's gyms in the area like the one at Brunswick center, they can do gymnastics classes.

There's also loads of things at American Dream. Most of it is for kids older than 1.5, but it would at least entertain the adults a bit too. Even simple free stuff like some movable sheep statue things for kids to climb on, or the fairy garden area.

The aquarium at American dream mall is legit

Also Nickelodeon theme park that age kid might like to see the characters there. But that theme park wasn’t all that. There’s also a water park that kid would definitely enjoy.

The Fire Department Museum in Hoboken is very kid friendly and has an old fire engine. Kinda small though so not a whole day trip.

The ferry to the Statue of Liberty departs from the Liberty state park. But it’s cold outside and 1.5 year-old cannot appreciate the historic significance of the islands.

For somewhere indoor, I only think of the science center and the Newport mall.

Pershing , they have inside pool & ice skating around next month or this month. If you drive maybe 20-30 minutes I bet you can find any of the nearby farm animals / apple/pumpkin picking still open.

Grove street on a Saturday night- Six 26 if you and the little one are looking for a real good time…

Joking, don’t do that.

I’d recommend getting pizza or ice cream; JC has some good pizza spots scattered throughout the city, and downtown Jc has a lot of fun little dessert spots, followed by a walk on the waterway
