TIL that if they ever start a line that start/ends at Grove St. it would be grey.

Grey is what they use for any non-standard line.

And it just disappeared after 30 seconds, and I'm left to guess what GRO means.

It makes sense that the Port Authority would have a contingency for turning the train around at Grove without stopping at Journal Square. Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me but I could swear I've heard of this happening.

Lol, why you get downvoted for accurate information. This is clearly 9th St.

NewLoseIt t1_j27gfis wrote

Lol it’s because the original person said “That (GRO) is Grove Street” and /u/titaniccar misunderstood and said “This (picture) is not Grove Street”

OP is at 9th St and is asking what GRO is, and that is Grove Street.

Why would 9th Street be called GRO lol

Because people don't know the city well, I guess...

i’d be very surprised if the grove street station has a bunch of “9” signs. but maybe people don’t notice those.

That’s an odd stop is there a problem at Journal Square?

When is there not? Feel like I hear there’s a problem with the JSQ signals at least once a week

I'm guessing the train is gonna be out of service, so they're making passengers get off there before it heads to the yard?

mouse6502 t1_j2anqnp wrote

I always wanted to ask- what happens if you stay on an out of train service at JSQ? Sometimes they shut those doors mad fast and although I haven’t fallen asleep on a train in a while (ugh ended up in Babylon once on the lirr) I was curious 😊

NJ_Bus_Nut t1_j2b44we wrote

I assume the conductor does a quick sweep to make sure there's no stragglers.

mouse6502 t1_j2ba6sj wrote

Well yeah maybe, but, where? They just close the doors and skedaddle

I always think of the poor soul who ends up in Quogue because he missed the announcement at the Babylon station.
