This is why we can’t have nice things…

People aren’t throwing tables into the river. The river is birthing tables and delivering them onto the river bank.

maybe someone is trying to help prevent coastal erosion by adding more ad-hoc riprap to the shoreline

Probably people getting upset after spending their kids inheritance on a kimchi taco or some other culinary crime.

Without police doing police work, this will continue to get more and more frequent.

Probably the same person or group. They should set up a camera would be pretty easy to catch whoever it is in the act.

Now whether or not JCPD actually does something...

Seriously. What the fuck is up with that? Why aren’t they being ticketed/towed?

The police chief hasn't been fired yet, so we are indicating that their lack of performance is okay, and this is what we want.

Usually happens first few days of new bike lane when it’s not “official yet” nbd

Definitely an irate local angry they cant jog / run / walk their dog / ride their pretentious Escootter because when its busy the tables make it too crowded and god forbid they have to slow down or keep control of their dog for 30 seconds .

They are a lot of insane - angry people downtown that get really angry at the crowds.. almost like they chose to move into a super busy downtown district of a major city or something...

I once saw a decapitated dog floating around down there.

This happens because this stuff isn’t street furniture. The reason why things cost so much is because you need to harden it and implement it in ways that make it vandalism proof and suitable for high traffic environments.

It’s also why an ash tray on a navy war ship costs $400. Because when you’re on the high seas, you need something that’ll break into four dull pieces, not something that would shatter in a way that you’ll get glass in your eye.

I mean I guess they could just use a light aluminum ashtray, but whatever.

scubastefon t1_iz0xj6p wrote

That’s not an actual thing that happened. They didn’t use pencils because the graphite could break off and cause issues with the equipment.

Still no cameras, security or gates ? There’s nothing safe about jersey city unlike some popular beliefs.

The condos in downtown and the waterfront are not representative of Jersey city . Most of the people that live there have no clue and live in a bubble with a big sense of entitlement . Totally unaware of reality .
