Initially thought of these two because they have nice views and everyone but us is coming from out of town. Never ate indoors at these restaurants and wanted to know if either have a decent vibe for a family birthday, 10-11 people, on a Saturday evening. Like will it be crazy loud or crazy crowded? Happy to hear other recommendations also.

Thanks!

Lokal had a larger table area in the back near the windows with the view. Been to both multiple times. I only go to Lokal now.

Agreed with the luxury Applebees comment. That doesn't mean it's bad, it's wedding food - fancy-sounding ingredients used incorrectly resulting in something that's just good enough.

Lokal is better food-wise, with decent enough New American fare, but if you have picky eaters, may want to lean towards Hudson & Co since it's as safe as possible.

Piggybacking off this. Hudson is the type of place I’d take my old boomer parents where there won’t be anything offensive/weird sounding and is a nice “luxury” vibe. As with any restaurant, kids ruin the experience and make it feel like luxury Chuck E. Cheese when parents bring then

In completely unrelated news, my mother loves Hudson and Co.

Maybe also look into Battelo if you want views? Food is better than Lokal or Hudson Co imo.

Also Corto In the Heights can fit 10-12 I believe on their big table and they’re BYOB and much quieter ambiance and you can walk to nearby Riverview Park for views before or after meal.

Lokal is significantly better. Hudson & Co is a huge rip off.

Went to Hudson and Co twice and both times had bad experiences. Food was meh, drinks were above average, an employee claiming to be the manager (both times) was a dick the entire time and then insulted me for wanting to pour my own stout in my glass instead of letting him do it.

Both times went for a dinner party 8 and 12 people.
