Hey all,

I just moved to Greenville around Audubon Park and most streets have no parking hours 10am-12pm, Monday and Thursday or other similar rules.

However, it seems like no one adheres to them. Can someone tell me the deal with this? I used to live in North Philly where no one has a driveway and they LOVED to give tickets out for things like this so I'm a bit leery about not moving my car for two hours.

Any info would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Jersey City has alternate side parking for street cleaning. Right now it’s suspended until Jan 2nd. But otherwise you would get a ticket for being in those spots during the time listed on the signs. You also must get a parking permit. No way around that, but the office is closed until Jan 2nd as well so plan accordingly. Tickets are $50.

The only traffic laws that are enforced in JC are parking tickets, but the no parking hours end the moment the little meter maid vehicle has driven by.

Most of the NJCU area is zoned parking, but the rest of Greenville is a parking free-for-all.

Kind of related you said you were from Philly.  I love watching this show…crazy stuff. I feel
for the people trying (multiple times) to get their cars out of the car pound.

Lol @ laws in jersey city, best part about moving here is never worrying about being pulled over by the police, when I see someone pulled over I assume they were a serial killer or something.

Also coming from Philly, things like meters aren’t enforced nearly as ruthlessly as the PPA does. I started to think the were totally unenforced because I’m trained to expect the PPA waiting in the bushes for the meter to expire and throw down a ticket on the spot and got real brazen about totally ignoring meters and then got ticketed for it.

Those signs are real as mentioned above for street cleaning. I live off westside ave and there’s more than a few spots that have no parking signs that property owners put up not the city.

Hmm interesting because I called the city and they said a parking permit was unnecessary because there were no permit zones in my neighborhood. Also, as far as I know those two hour no parking apply to both sides of the street. Am I mistaken?

I have a huge driveway, like three cars wide. I find a different car parked there everyday.

The majority of houses on my street have two car garages and long driveways that can fit four cars but my neighbors choose to park on the street and complain about my handicap reserved parking.

Like someone else mentioned, that is for street cleaning. Check the JC Parking Twitter for days that street cleaning is suspended. However, they only give tickets if you are there when the street cleaner comes and are in the way. So, if people see it pass or know it already did, they will park back on the street. Technically they could ticket you if you’re there between the times, but I’ve only seen them do it when the street cleaner is about to come by, if that makes sense.

They don’t really enforce the zones, especially downtown. They enforce street cleaning mainly.
