Hi, yes something that happens at my apartment too. I keep the windows closed, and an air purifier + vacuuming goes a long way. I have the Coway Airmega AP-1512HH

Great. That gives me some comfort. I have bought the Levoit 600S. I am hoping it will cover the entire 840 sq ft apartment without too much relocation from living to bedroom. Mind sharing how often do you run it? I basically have just the dust problem and it accumulates over 2-3 days time (I see it settled on surfaces). So, I am thinking I can run it morning / evening for 1-2 hours and that should be sufficient?

Nice, that should help. Putting it in a central area where it can capture lots of air will be beneficial too. I leave mine running 24/7, it has an auto mode where it'll pick up speed when it needs to, otherwise it's whisper quiet. Sometimes I'll put it on full speed manually if I'm going out somewhere. Dust still accumulates but at a slower pace. If yours comes with a carborn filter, it's good to clean that about once a month too

Thanks mate. Yeah, I don't mind cleaning dust but I got upset when I saw particles of that on my down comforter (it was covered so that helps). I mean, you don't want to sleep in dust right. Maybe running it 24/7 is the only option. Do you mind sharing whereabouts is your building? Is it near the construction site? My management told me that because there is construction going on, the dust is just everywhere. I contacted the ex-tenant of this apartment who told me that he never had this issue. Maybe that is because of the construction being halted during covid.

Ooof that does sound bad, sorry to hear! Yeah, they don't take up much electricity so I've always seen the running cost as negligible / worth it. I'm actually a block or so from the Grove St. PATH stop but there is new construction near me (~1 block away). My current apartment isn't drafty which I think helps, in case you want to make sure your windows are sealed well? I use to live in an older apartment by a busy street and we'd even get dirt / grime coming into the windowsills, not a fun time

thanks for your reply. Yeh, Laguna is a pretty good building. The windows are not drafty so everything is a closed box lol. That is what puzzled me - why this dirt right. So, I had the vents checked but they seem to be ok. I think this is due to the construction behind Ellipse. Can't help it, it seems.
Would you recommend getting a purifier for the bedroom as well? Levoit 600s will serve 630 something sq ft. But I have a feeling that it will do well in the combined living / kitchen space; but since the bedroom is separated by a wall; it may not be able to do as well there.
I was avoiding the 24 hour run of the purifier for it will lead to an accelerated wear and tear. But seems it is a good idea to at least run it on a 12 hour basis.

Of course, happy to help. Good call on the vents, if your apartment gives you access to replacing the HVAC / central air filter too, that's something I do at mine and it helps.
And yeah, I have a smaller air purifier for the bedroom that I turn on only during the day since it's a little noisier. Otherwise the way my apartment is set up, I have my main air purifier in the living room / kitchen. It's placed a few steps away from the bedroom doorway, but the extra air purifier for the bedroom specifically still helps (filter def gets dirty).
Can't speak to wear and tear too much, but my smaller air purifier (GermGuardian) needs its filter replaced after 3-4 months, whereas my bigger one (Coway) I heard should last around 9 months or so before I need a new filter. Hope this helps and good luck hah

Awesome. It sure does. Thanks for your detailed feedback and taking the time out. I'm just amazed despite spending north of 4000 on rent, I still have to deal with issues lol. The rest of the apartment / building is great though. Merry Xmas and NY :)

Hahah you got it, anytime! It's an ongoing struggle but I'm sure you'll notice a difference with the air purifiers. Happy holidays!
