Two teens were charged in an armed robbery and were linked to another one in Downtown Jersey City late Saturday and early Sunday morning, authorities said.

There was also an armed robbery late Friday, on the West Side, in the which the victim was stabbed while trying to fight off his assailants, a city spokeswoman said.

The teens, 15 and 16 years old, were charged with first-degree robbery, fourth-degree receiving stolen property, second-degree possession of a weapon, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and fourth-degree possession of a weapon by a juvenile after their arrests on Sunday.

A 35-year-old man told police he was approached by five people, including one who pointed a gun at him, at 11:15 p.m. at Second and Colgate streets, Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said. The victim was robbed of an iPhone 12 and his wallet.

Nearly two hours later, a 26-year-old man was robbed by three people, including one who brandished a handgun, in the area of Morgan and Washington streets, police were told.

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear you weren't a victim. This is not too far from my neighborhood, and it's been a really long time since I've heard about anything like this in the area. I hope it's a one-off.

Its getting bad for some reason the last year or two ...worse then i can ever remember.

34 years i been here. And Maybe once or twice when i was a kid someone tried to take my bike but didnt get away with it.

But in the last 2 years - ive had 3 attempted muggings and one was actually successfully when two of blind sided me for my backpack and car keys.

They caught the guy the next morning walking around the neighborhood with the clicker looking for my car--which i moved a few blocks away to my friends place with my other key. Got my key back but never did get my backpack or gaming laptop .

Who walks their dog around midnight carrying several hundreds in cash? Drug deal gone south?

A couple in my building were approached Saturday night on Monmouth, right around the block from Newark Ave while walking their dog around 11pm. Luckily they didn't have phones/wallets on them and the group eventually left them alone. Police were taking security footage from local businesses on Brunswick and instructing them to close early and go home Saturday night.

Glad to hear two of them were caught, but apparently there were at least 5 people in the group. Stay safe out there!

Weird that this also hasn’t made it to NextDoor.

The amount of crime that happens in this city, murders, robberies etc that go under reported or in many cases unreported is staggering and plain dangerous all for the benefit of keeping a squeaky clean political image. It’s disgusting

100%. Why not release monthly quarterly crime stats like every other city in this country? Instead I’ll have to wait until end of year to get some bogus stat that can be on a political flyer or commercial. Instead I have to hope it comes to me via some algo in Nextdoor or Twitter

Let’s clarify. Some crime is being unreported to the public in a timely and safe manner. Not implying people are being murdered and not being counted. This city refuses to release crime statistics in accordance to how just about every big city does. That’s the issue I have. Notice I mentioned robberies in my sentence as well. Don’t just jump to conclusions here
