When I hit this intersection after taking the exit off 139, it is extremely difficult to get over into the rightmost turn lane. While the left lane does allow a right turn as well, there is a major risk of being hit by drivers in the right lane who decide to gun-it and go straight. This is a commute I’ll be making several times a week for my new job, and I really would like to keep my route as safe as possible. Needless to say, I am not familiar with the roadways yet. Any alternate route recommendations would be helpful!! Thank you everyone :)

That’s a gnarly commute. You could cut through downtown JC and journal square but that will add a chunk of time. Godspeed.

I know :( Luckily after my first week I will only have to stop by the office once or twice a week. Regardless, my job will have me on the road quite a bit so I need to acclimate as best as possible. Thank you for your suggestion!

The GPS takes you that way? Just take the Lincoln tunnel which feeds directly onto Route 3 and exit off on 120 or 17 by Metlife Stadium. Takes you right to Rutherford/Carlstadt area.

I would have guessed incorporating traffic it would guide OP basically this way.

I think it would be quite a bit faster and easier. Especially during rush hour.

Can also just stay on 139 and then take that to the turnpike and then ride that up to 3.

You can take 139 Upper level to JFK Blvd and the ramp that goes to the circle is for the right lane
