This Latin-inspired burlesque track was a ton of fun to put together!

What sounds like an organ vamp is actually an Eastman AR403 archtop guitar, which seems to have this warm, bloomy vibe unlike any guitar I've ever played, which I recorded straight through a Fender Twin (with only a Wampler Tumnus pedal - a Klon clone - just to give it a boost)

The bass on this one was an Ibanez Mikro (which I've since sold for a Fender Jazz) into a Fender Rumble amp

The drum and horn section were composed using the stock library in Logic on my MIDI keyboard, using the jog wheels to simulate the sound and feel of a human playing a trumpet

For the video, I rotoscoped footage from the 1928 film "Toasts of Texas"

Sasha Vie - "Go!" (Spotify, Apple etc)

Enjoy!

I'm sorry, I don't have anything to contribute, just a friendly note that this might very well become my new favorite sub! Finding similar artists of new and upcoming bands is literally one of my favorite things to do - especially when I'm supposed to be getting work done!!

My dad has been a drummer for 40 years. Played in local bands for much of my child hood but for the last 25 years or so it’s just been a weekend hobby. Towards the end of ‘21 he released 6 songs that he wrote (lyrics and music) himself. “Don’t Leave” is special to me because it’s about the feelings he gets every time I fly home to visit. Super proud of what he was able to make and will cherish it forever

Been listening to Relient K’s album Collapsible Lung

As a cringey Christian teenager I liked their old stuff and didn’t like this album when it came out

Now as a less cringey (still Christian but the music isn’t Christian themed anymore) young adult, I absolutely love it.

The lyrics hit hard and the music and vocals really reflect their meaning in my opinion.

Here’s a YT link to the full album (about 38 minutes):

Wild Crazy Bananas - Elementary Vibe

Released in January

A fast, heavy, techno-ish, instrumental, rock song that I was originally composing as a ringtone, but it was just a bit too long, so I made it a bit longer.

Here's a new release from a post-punk project I'm a part of. It was a great collaboration with so many talented folks. The title track is especially meaningful to me as it's a personal exploration of my experience making music over the last decade.

Minimal Orchestra - Lift Off

Smooth rhythms vying through intricate patterns of breathy comic jazz that sway in a lush tangled calm

Go Outside / Wavefiler - Send / Return

Tranquil ambient patterns of fuzzy rippling tone weaving through dreamy textures towards a hopeful glow

Seim - Balance & Harmony

Atmospheric jungle beats drift in a deep and dreamy glow through ethereal waves of a faded new age

These and other albums are posted with embedded players on my wordpress. There’s also previous week's recommendations and a lot more music to discover. You can also check out my twitter where I post all the good songs that I discover daily.

The first track I put out that I’m really proud of, it’s a culmination of things I’ve learned and wanted to develop so it’s a personal success. I really love 70s and 80s music with complex layers of instrumentation and harmony so I’ve been wanting to know how to make it myself for the longest.

In general though it is a Japanese jazz fusion inspired track that I call Synth Dream.

This is song that I made with my best friend. I made the beat which I would describe as atmospheric and light, kind of like a drizzling day type feel to it, while the lyrics are about toxic relationships. We also had another artist featured on it that did some more esoteric lyrics on it.

My Band Released a New Single on Friday!

Ego can carry folks through most trials in life fairly successfully, until confronted with a situation that cannot be resolved. When confronted with terminal illness of a parent, the ego had to die and a realization was made that not all things can be fixed. This song is about ego death, and the self reflection and depression that inevitably follows.

Hope you enjoy!

Monsieur Creator -- Free [Pop/Dance Pop] (2023)

link to the song

History behind:

Hey r/listentothis, today I'm sharing with you my song "Free", it is about a toxic workplace. One night, while my wife and I were talking about work frustrations, the idea for that song popped into my head. Annoying things were happening at the office, and we needed a break from all the anxiety and stress, so I decided to write the song. It's a fast-paced song that I believe will help you lower your stress, reduce feelings of anger, and feel calmer. The song is moving, so I recommend you take some time to listen to it when you need to clear your mind and relax. I am normally releasing it on International Workers’ Day, but I wanted to give you early access for some time. You can listen to it here.

Not sure where else to talk about this. I like rap and hiphop that have melody. Theres really two things I have to listen for it. Deltron 3030. And Russian hiphop, which I know Russian anything isn't popular these days. But I'm hoping theres someone who knows our scene or really anything because the beats I'm hearing from our scene ain't enough! Prove me wrong because I'm tired of these rhythms. When was the last band on the level of Gorillaz, even? All I have to listen to are the old of the oldschool rap and Russian artists I simply can't culturally connect with:

When i sent the Track to a friend of mine (before release) he said it would remind him of a commercial from an insurance for Adventurers which could be called something like "Dragonwing insurance". I dont wanted to name the Track this way but hence a insurance is giving people promises , i named it A Dragons Promise :D

All honesty, this is one of the artists that I can put their discography on and rarely if ever skip a song.
