One of my all time favorites. They're super talented - every song is a different style. Some of you might recognize their most infamous track: M.n.a. (the Shocker)

I don’t think the all female alternative indie rock band Warpaint get enough love and I share the word every chance I get. They recently did a set From the Basement so they are moving up in the world but not fast enough for me. They been around for over twelve years at this point and I rarely hear them mentioned. Even their subreddit r/warpaintwarpaint has less than 2,000 members so if you like them join the sub we are always looking for more peeps who love the band. The whole From the Basement set is great but my favorite part of the set is Hard to Tell You. Emily, the singer, does a beautiful and heartfelt vocal performance. They have some harder songs too like Elephants, and Lilys and the song New Song is more upbeat and a little dance-y. The bass is my favorite part of every one of their songs; always so groovy. Give these ladies some love, some thumbs ups and subscribes and if you like them share something with me you think I’d like. Thanks for taking the time to read and listen I hope you like them as much as I do.

Honestly took me about 3 years to make. But I feel it’s a culmination of the entirety of my first 2 25 years of life. It covers many of “eras” I went through as a human and an artist. It’s the first installment of my so-called Ascension Trilogy. My next album is already in the works.

Hey all,

This song is called "As Stars Burn", it's our first single of 2023.
We're a 3 piece band from the Seattle area. Our stuff is sort of melancholy and nostalgic.
I wrote this on the Uke before I took it to the band and we kept the uke intro which I hope you'll find interesting...

The basic idea of the song is the feeling of loss of control, euphoria, hope and maybe even despair that one experiences when falling into an impossible love.

Enjoy...

I write and record my own stuff with a couple of friends guesting. I'm an amateur but I enjoy it and think a few bits have come out nicely. I'm a little annoyed with myself for kind of accidentally creating a "noun the verb" band name but I'm now stuck with it.

This one is a metal track but half chilled out. Singer has a lovely voice. Black Water

This one is a rock cover of the closing theme from the classic 80s cartoon The Raccoons.

In 2019, I wrote a song about the state of the world (AI robots, climate change, fake news, online consumption) and I tied it around the theme of having to leave earth with the help of Elon Musk.

Since Elon took over Twitter, his image has taken a downward turn. And thus, for listeners, I think, so has my song (which I have just released).

For me, I neither love or hate him. I think most of his work is incredible and brilliant (in particular Neuralink, which could have great impact for people with disabilities. In my video, the monkey is playing Pong wirelessly via a brain-implanted Neuralink chip. Also there is Starlink's satellite service to Ukraine, which Musk continues to fund for free). But from my understanding, it was his treatment of his Twitter staff as well as his outspoken right-leaning views that irked a lot of people. Anyway, here's my song...

Garlen Lo - 'Captain Elon'

Interesting note based on Reddit comments: For Musk-supporters, they dislike the song because they think the song is criticising him. For Musk-non-supporters, they dislike the song because they think the song heaps praise on him. I suppose they're both right, lol. And to be fair, they might just dislike the song because of its melody, singing, production, etc.

1

nelsonblaha t1_j5oin6f wrote

I also have mixed feelings about Elon. My trouble with it is overproduction and a trite melody. It seems like you tried to make the song go by making it a video, when you ought to work some more on writing better songs.

I'm constantly making music. Have been my entire life. Been seriously working on my craft since 2010 when I went off to University and got a degree in guitar performance. Before that my primary instrument was cello. Spent the better part of the last 9 years working to get Pro Tools figured out and start getting my production quality up to a more professional sounding level despite doing it all on my own. Anyways, at my heart I'm a songwriter. And so often my best songs stand firm more on the strength of their lyrics than anything musical contained in them. I believe that is the case with one my singles off my new album called "Wake Up". It's my lyrical response to the James Webb Space Telescope images that have been getting released in the last year. They were stunning to me and really made me sit and ponder about our place in this infinitely large universe. Anyways, hope you take the time to check it out and if you enjoy it, go ahead and give the full 28 minute album Sleepyhead a listen too. Much love!

I just released my first full length chill out instrumental hip hop album "Poolside Chill Hop" late last year. Took me two years to produce and master it by myself. What started off as a fun lockdown hobby blossomed into some cool beats and im one of only 12 "official" lofi hip hop artists on the lofi sub.

Hope you'll give it a listen and also give me a follow on Spotify or iTunes. I have a new 5 song EP ill be releasing this year.

The song is called "Drink and Drive". Before you start assuming it's promoting drinking and driving, newsflash: it's not.

The video is of me performing the song onstage in Germany with two keyboards in my Hawaiian shirt. It was originally produced by T Raumschmiere in Berlin for my album "Synthpop is Dead". It's live, raw and the sound is also raw but in a good way. You get to see my stage show which... is... madness...

I think you'll enjoy it and love to know what you think! Thanks for your time and I'm excited to listen to your content!

Fierce Grace - False Pretence - Alt Rock - 2023

False Pretence is the debut single by U.K. Alt-Rock band Fierce Grace. (Full disclosure - I’m the bass player). It’s about the band’s collective experiences of friends that turn out to be narcissists. Lexy the singer says: "It's about growing up and realising that not everyone you think is your friend, is actually your friend. People easily stab you in the back and hurt you”.

I started writing this before the birth of our second kid, but had to stop because I broke my leg in three places. I finished writing the album during recovery and even played some of the drums with my left foot when I still had my leg armor on. The title refers to my experience during that time where every day was long and painful, but the year flew by.
