I was involved in a fatal collision recently on the mass pike. The person at fault passed away due to the accident. Their name hasn't been released which is odd, and all i know is they had no registration no locense no insurance. I'll probably be waiting months longer for any info or report. I never saw them coming and although there were many witnesses & I have lots of pictures I can't seem to make sense of what happened. For my own curiosity I'm looking for someone with knowledge in this field - DOT, Highway patrol, etc & could possibly look at pics of the damage to both cars and where I started vs ended up on highway to give an idea of speed & impact positions or even a witness that might have been there.

That must have been a terrible and frightening experience. Can I ask your motivation for reconstructing the accident? Closure? Curiosity? Concern over potential legal liability? If potential legal liability, hire a lawyer. They, if they know his area of the law, will know who to hire to reconstruct the accident.

Could be very expensive, as I’m sure you can imagine. Might also be difficult (not impossible) for the person to get the first hand data they need from other sources such as police, insurance investigators, etc, without a legal case and judicial involvement. FOIA requests of police records is an option though could take time. Good luck. Again, I’m sorry this is even something you have to feel concerned about.

MA State Police has an accident reconstruction division. They must have filed something that reconstructs it since there was a fatality.

I had a near fatal hit. You may also find in time, some of it comes back to you on its own if you were in shock or had a concussion. Just going over it with a friend or talking to yourself out loud can help.
