Does anyone know of any lookouts (look offs?). Something with a view perhaps, but not necessary. My friend wants to propose to his soon to be fiancé, and I only vaguely know of that one in weymouth.

Golden Eagle on the Hairpin turn in North Adams on the balcony at sunset is awesome. Wait for late spring or summer

The Trustees of Reservations have a lot of beautiful properties - World's End in Hingham is nice, or on the rooftop of the DeCordova in Lincoln. If he wants to be outside, the Arborteum in JP is gorgeous in the spring.

They’re in the Taunton raynham area. I think he’d prefer closer to south shore. But is happy to go more up north.

The arboretum has a nice overlook if you’re looking for city. Waltham has an excellent city viewpoint in their nature reserve, as does blue hills (which others have mentioned) if they have and want to use a car.

My husband proposed to me at Halibut Point State Park in Rockport. Because of how it’s situated you can see the sunset over the water.

Yes. Mount monadnock, wahchusett mountain. On a good day you can see the ocean from monads, also you get a cool view of Boston (even though I hate that it fucks up the skylin)

There are beautiful beaches and lookout points all along the south shore too. Just get in google maps and start looking at the coast. There will be user pics

What about that abandoned 'castle' I'm hoping somebody will pop in with the details. Not in Boston but it wasn't far away either

There’s Bancroft Castle in Groton that is ruins but really cool to check out and also Hammond Castle in Gloucester which is a museum but you can go to the iconic arches over looking the ocean without buying tickets/it being open as long as there are no private functions.

Near the summit of Mt. Wachusett there’s a vista that opens up and you can see for miles off the side of the mountain where there’s lakes and forest and sometimes little planes cruising along at eye level. And there’s never anyone there.

Are they into history/literature/mountains? Go to Arrowhead in Pittsfield and you can look out to the mountains that Herman Melville thought looked like a whale, it’s the view he had from his office while writing Moby Dick. If you go in late spring/summer, you can stand outside the house in the gardens.
