honestly, you're better off looking outside of fitchburg. you either end up at a townie bar, the 99, or some other equally unattractive option. fitchburg just isn't there yet, I'm sorry to say.

If you're knowledgeable about craft beer, River Styxy Brewing or Thirsty Robot could be options.

Worcester is your best bet if you don’t mind driving 30 minutes there and back. Fitchburg/Leominster have townie bars and chain restaurants, and a few hip local spots in Leominster. You’ll most likely end up with a job in leominster if you really think you need to stay close. But like I said, Worcester is where it’s at if you want tips.

you could try forge & vine or gibbet hill in groton (restaurants with good bar programs). otherwise, yeah, worcester unless you're looking for a dive/townie bar.

I second this. F&V and GH are upscale and fantastic. There is also the Station Inn in Groton.

You can also check out...

Bull Rull in Shirley

Markoh's on Main in Ayer

Ixtapa in Leominster or Groton

Zapata in Fitchburg. THE best Mexican food, maybe in all of MA. I say that having lived in LA for 15 years.

All in Littleton @ The Point -
TiTS
Great Road Kitchen
Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza
Salut! Wine Bar
Taka Sushi

If you’re willing to drive there’s a great speakeasy bar in Hudson called Less Than Greater Than. I know they are hiring. Or their sister restaurant that has an excellent bar, Rail Trail.

El toro steakhouse, legends. In Leominster tavern 13, Logan’s table, bar 37/Brady’s, Columbia tavern, gazbar. They’re all usually hiring and busy!

I doubt someone is going to come in and get a good bartending job there.

I think you should think of an alternate plan. Maybe start as a waiter and show someone you are worth considering.

Put together a resume'. There have been several restaurant openings lately in the area. One in Lunenburg on Rte 2A at the old Bootlegger. Family owned Italian place. Plus a Mex place on Main, and a steak place(El Toro) on the other end of the city. Not sure if any of them are looking for a bar tender though.

As far as apartments go. They are not cheap. Even here in the 'Burg. Kinda crazy pricing.
