Any folks ever purchased tires on eBay and then having it shipped to local store?

Just looking to hear people’s experiences if they’ve done that.

Looks like nearby me, I can purchase tires on eBay and have it shipped to my nearest Firestone.

Purchasing on ebay uses a service called CarAdvise for tire installation.

Thanks.

I bought tires like that (not from eBay) - no issues.

I've had tires shipped from tirerack to a shop several times. They were happy to do it, asked me to let them know when the order was placed, and when they arrived called me to bring the vehicle in to have them mounted.

Never from ebay but the reality is the tire shop makes far more from the install than they do from the sale of tires alone

Call ahead of time, and ask. Some places will charge more for services, that would come free if you purchased the tires from them, than you are saving, it could end up a wash.

I nearly pulled the trigger on this once, and through Google found a bunch of horror stories about the tires being old/out of date, and ended up just going directly through the shop instead. Your mileage may vary (literally)

Thanks for those all who chimed in. The seller is actually Discount Tire on eBay. I have ordered from them in the past.

I just never dropped shipped to a shop before. And now eBay also offer where you pay to mount and balance ahead of time. It’s an option they offer now on eBay for $100 fee for mount and balance.

I just did this. Bought 4 tires from Discount Tire Direct like you on ebay. Should get to Firestone tomorrow but I'm trying to figure out how to "schedule" the appt via the caradvise website. Like I can choose the installer, choose new tire install service, but as far as payment, how does the site/app know I bought it via ebay? Cause it asks for option for payment. This is where I'm lost. Ebay says to set the appt via caradviser and not the installer. How did you do it?

Sorry—Ive actually decided to purchase the tires locally in town and price matched so I didn’t go through the eBay/caradvise experience.

If you haven’t yet, try chatting with eBay customer car to get hopefully help out.

Good luck with everything.
