If you call the DTA office they can help you fill out an application over the phone for food stamps and possibly cash assistance. Ever since covid the income threshold went up and it’s easier to get accepted. If you’re eligible for food stamps you’d be able to put the cash you’d normally spend on food in savings to help you move.

I’m not sure what area you live in but there’s places that have advocates that can help you with resources and helping you with different programs. - I think DTA would have access to these locations if you ask.

Sending you thoughts and prayers. Don’t worry things will look up soon enough!

I make too much money to receive cash assistance and I do have some food stamps already

Wonder why people downvote you. This is the problem with the system. They reward generational losers who have kids to milk the system and never work a day in their life. People who at least go to work and still don’t make enough should get the lions share while the 3/4th generation on welfare should get tents, gas heaters and powdered milk.

What? I work 40 hours a week then take care of my kids. I didn’t plan on their dad leaving us

I guess you interpreted my post incorrectly. I’m on your side. It’s the working poor that should get the lion’s share of welfare benefits. You have people having kids as a way of life so they can mooch off the system for the rest of their lives. They really need to do something about it.
