My family and I moved to WMA in late August. We’ve loved it. We’re about an hour east of the Berkshires and have family coming in this weekend. We wanted to take them there to see the leaves but don’t know where to start for lunch options. Are there any places you’d suggest that have a good combo of food and view? Thank you in advance!
This is one I knew of but when I went to make lunch reservations, it’s basically booked for the year on Saturdays. I get it though. It looked really cool.

One of my faves
Baba Louie’s in Great Barrington. Truly amazing pizza. No reservations. Unless you get there when they open, plan to have a short wait, maybe 20-30 minutes. Good thing is Great Barrington is a lovely little town to walk around with plenty of shops, galleries, etc.

The only thing I dont like about Baba Louie's is that it such a small space. I always felt like I was a part of every table lol.

Anywhere you suggest. Lol. I’m sorry I’m so unhelpful. I really have no idea where to start. Let’s put it this way, if you were going to that area, whether western, eastern, northern, etc. side of the Berkshires, where would you take people to eat lunch who haven’t seen the foliage
if you don't care about food, The Golden Eagle in North Adams has spectacular views.
Or just keep going up the hill and get coffee at the summit.

Black Swan Inn in Lee — Indian food on the lake, great view, kinda cramped and only Indian food, but top tier. RJs Seafood is an exquisite Italian seafood-focused restaurant in Pittsfield.
Hotel on North’s “Eat on North” also has impeccable food, all varieties, but American typical bar fare and entrees. Rem Roc’s is authentic soul food that you could take to-go and eat the best fried chicken of your life atop Mt. Greylock or the like. Treat yourself to some Ayelada frozen yogurt on the way back. If you find yourself in Lenox and starved, but don’t want to pay a mint to eat — Loeb’s grocery has a deli in back, the Earl’s Favorite is scrumptious. Chocolate Springs is worth a stop if you pass it. La Fogata in Pittsfield has out of this world empanadas, and Pancho’s on North is a solid authentic Mexican restaurant - neither have a view, but keep reading and I’ve got you covered.
Pittsfield is centrally located and you’re likely to see less traffic if you peep north of Pittsfield aka “Shire City” and much less waiting time for anything, especially food, in Pittsfield. I would steer clear of south county, Great Barrington, the Stockbridges including Lee and Lenox, if you want to stay relaxed and not up to your ears in peepers. There’s waterfalls in Dalton and lakes to drive by in Lanesborough, Pittsfield State forest area and up towards Adams.
Edit: if you’re coming from the east, take rt. 20 into Dalton/Pittsfield and go North from there. This will allow you AMAZING peeping while driving into the country, while avoiding all of South County where allllllllllllllllllllllllLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the congestion is, always. Waconah Falls should be on the way, which is a 50 yard walk to a beautiful slice of nature.

When I first relocated here, finding it was like a warm hug from my late, beloved, cigarette-stinking-navy-vet Papa. I went a lot that first year, when I felt completely rudderless, out of place and needed comfort. Felt like home. I only do take out now, but it’s still my #1 local comfort food. The fries are consistently crisp to perfection, even after the ride home.
I've been going there since the early 70s as a kid... I still always get there when I'm back home, sadly not too often.

Bizen has great Japanese, Baba Louis was already mentioned but I’ll second it, both Bizalions and Rubis offer a European cafe vibe ( great sandwiches/imported cheeses/order at counter type thing). Bistro box is also great, although be prepared to stand in line for 30+ minutes and then another 15 or so to get your food.
Edit: while not lunch, Naumkeag is doing their annual pumpkin show and it’s a nice fall activity if your looking for that sort of thing. You’ll need to buy tickets ahead of time though.

Baba Louie's in Great Barrington, truly the best pizza I have ever had. And if you want dessert, walk down the street to SoCo Creamery afterwards.
