The main problem is the indian being executed by a cavalryman, but also the motto "By the Sword, we seek peace". Both are in reference to King Philips War, where Western MA was genocided by the Wampanoag until they thenselves were defeated. However, both were put on the flag for the Civil War, with the implication that the Confederates would meet the same fate.

Side note: the indian on the cover is Metacom/King Phillip himself, and is historically accurate

What is the "problem" with having a native American on the flag? Doesn't Massachusetts have a large history of native people and many still existing tribes?

"Boring" is an opinion. What exactly is "boring" about the current one? Whats not "boring" about the one you submitted? What if all 50 states followed a similar approach? I think the current one is just fine the way it is. If there are some that are offended by it, well, learn to live with it. Leave the current one the way it is. This 'woke' shit is getting out of hand.

Multiple states have changed their flags or are in discussion. Mississippi’s flag is new and way better IMO. Georgia has also had like 4 flags. Why does it really matter if 50 flags change? If we add new states do you not expect the American Flag to change or at least be updated somehow?

Then it should be no big deal keeping it the way it is and save taxpayer money in the process.
