I participate in PowerBall pools at work because if I was the only one to come into work after everyone else became a millionaire I don't think I could take it.

I buy a quickpick when I get gas. I think I can swing $2 a few times a month for the infinitesimal chance I might be able to retire.

Tax on the poor, not the stupid. The lottery aggressively targets lower income neighborhoods which more than likely don’t have access to great educational resources.

It relies on dopamine and desperation not lack of intelligence. If you think you can outsmart either of those you’re not off to a great start.

What exactly is it I’m not off to a great start to? While I acknowledge my privilege to have access to education, and therefore never had to deal with desperation, I’ve never experienced dopamine from gambling. If you want to call that outsmarting the strategy, so be it. Point being that it’s an insidious system that claims to use the revenue to help the very people it targets.

Your brain has never released dopamine when you win money? Sounds.. wrong, maybe because you don’t have desperation for it? You’re just proving his point

I don’t gamble, it’s dumb. I invest. I also echoed the point that I’m fortunate to not be desperate. What is it you’re aiming to add to the conversation here?

Or it’s a chance you take with a couple bucks here and there.
