I’m trying to upgrade to real id. When clicking select appointment I choose Worcester RMV. After clicking through a few more pages, it’s forcing me to select an office from only 7 locations…. All of which are at least 40 miles away from me. Anyone else having this issue?

Is there a AAA near you? AAA offices can help you upgrade to a real id if you are a member.

Check back intraday on non-holidays or weekends. tons of slots open up on the daily in other branches.

I'll never forget scheduling an appointment online, and showing up to a AAA office that was empty other than the employees and getting it taken care of in 5 minutes. All four times in my life I ever had to go to the RMV for something I had to wait for at least 45 minutes, once it was a 2 hour wait. AAA, I went after I put my daughter for a nap and got home before she woke up. Insane.

I live in Boston, took the day off work, and drove to the greenfield location back in March. It’s a bit confusing to find (it’s also a truck rest stop). But the people were nice, helpful, and quick

If AAA can be deputized to do this work on behalf of the State, why can’t other businesses be as well? This monopoly is not serving us well

Obviously the Martha's Vineyard location is the most convenient.

I have to renew and just saw this bullshit. What a day. I’m a AAA member, they are also far out scheduled, and you have to pay for that.

I've had the same experience at AAA. I must say though I have gone into the RMV during lunch time before (pre-pandemic) and they were calling my number before I even stepped off the elevator. (This was in Chinatown)

That’s generally thru, but mine can’t. It depends if they have to do some sort of identity verification in person. Usually every ten years or depending on special annoying conditions.

How do you figure that out? Mine is up for a renewal in the spring, I got the real ID right when they started offering them about five years ago.

They let you know when you need to renew, after login into myrmv there is a tab for renewal. If they need you in person it shows up there. Will say that they can’t do the transaction online and to schedule an appointment.

Just keep checking - they seem to open up new appointments at other locations semi-regularly

I got mine at a AAA office in Lowell, hardly any wait. Its like a secret way to skip the rmv all you have to be is a member and bring all your documents.

In your exact shoes right now! I refuse to drive 2 hours away. Meanwhile I’m refreshing like a maniac lol. I’m getting flashbacks of trying to get a global entry appt. This is just like it but worse! The site is so glitchy
