My husband applied today and just waiting to hear back. He works consistent 40 hours for the past 10 years for the same company, but his boss is an asshole. Hoping he approves it when the info gets sent to him. My parents don’t think we’ll get approved because supposedly “everyone’s been getting denied for no reason” and just seeing how true this is. He is taking PFML because we just had a baby.

On it now. I was approved for it within two weeks of applying but my boss is amazing and supportive.

I’ve also found the staff when I called twice to be pretty helpful and nice though wait times suck as per Sunil these days.

He notified his boss before applying right? From my experience that’s all the state really want to check up on.

I got half-approved, which was weird because they accepted the start and end dates but I'm only covered until just before Thanksgiving. I've since appealed to try and get the entire duration.

Applications are definitely still being approved. I'm currently receiving payments.

It doesn’t matter that his boss is an ass b/c it’s not really his decision. Your husband has been paying into PFML since the law was enacted just like everyone else. Paternal leave is a qualifying event. Does his company have an HR rep?

After you apply the state sends notification to the employer but the “boss” doesn’t have to approve anything and they also can’t deny it. Any approvals or denials will come directly from the state. Hope that helps and congrats on the baby!
