We have been living in Boston for over a year, but we have not traveled much if at all. just to cape cod to be honest. Any place in mass where I could take her for 2-3 nights? If the hotel is all inclusive that's better. We don't drink much but we love to eat. Think of us as a 60 year old couple. I'm open to all kind of recommendations.

I'll take train or bus. But I prefer train
On the other side of the state but my late 50’s parents LOVE The Red Lion Inn:
You could take the commuter rail to Concord. Visit historical sites, walk to Walden Pond. I would check museum hours in advance, I believe many will close in late October for the season.
The answer is the Berkshires. Take the train to Pittsfield. You can walk from the station to Hotel on North. (That said, you really want a car to do a Berkshires visit. The food is so worth it.)
I would look down at the Cape (Cape Cod), there are a few all inclusive resorts out there that may fit the bill. I do suggest you try and rent some form of vehicle and take advantage of the falling leaves while you can. If you could swing it, there's plenty of things not far from you:
Salem is an excellent choice but try to avoid it during halloween if you can.
Fall River has Battleship Cove (The largest collection of naval museum ships in the US) and the Lizzie Borden House. I also suggest you try the Portuguese food while you're there.
Providence is train reachable and has excellent shopping, culture, and food. Make your way to Federal Hill and try out the Italian food if you can.
New Bedford has the whaling museum among other things. There's a ton to do before you get out of state, though it does get easier with your own wheels. It gets cold fast and the sun goes down earlier and earlier each day.

Red lion inn is very cute! Located in “downtown” Cohasset. A surprising amount of good restaurants within walking distance when you consider how small the town center is.. an excellent French bakery across the street, good local bagel shop and nice little coffee shop all right there. Walking distance to the harbor which has beautiful views and a short drive to everything else the south shore has to offer. Also I saw your preference for train and it’s located about a 6 minute drive from the commuter rail. Great suggestion
Rockport is easy to get to by train and has off-season charm.
Yes Portland Maine has great restaurants. Do some googling ahead of time and make reservations. You can also do a night in Portsmouth NH.

This is absolutely the right answer.
I just went to Portsmouth NH for 3 days and it was delightful! Newport would also be great. Providence has some great restaurants too.
If you haven’t, downtown Plymouth is a solid spot right now. Get to see the rock, Chief Massasoits statue and plenty of other great things. Foods good and there are a surprising amount of bars.
Red Lion Inn Stockbridge. Great restaurants in Barrington, Stockbridge, Lee and Lenox. Great for casual walks and hikes of all types.
There are some world renowned spas in the Berkshires as well you could check out. These could easily push a grand/night. But after spending 2 days there you'll think it's a bargain...

Take the train from North Station to Newburyport. About an hour. Stay at the Essex Street Inn or the Compass Rose Inn downtown. Plenty of great restaurants and shops throughout the downtown to explore. Boardwalk on the river. Short cab ride/Uber out to Plum Island and the beach.
